They've been there since WWII, obviously. Mohmar Ghadafi had the same sort of caches, as did Egypt and Tunisia, IIRC.

There's also modern produced ammo available from a few places, most notably Serbia.

After the Russians captured the factories in eastern Germany in 1945 they kept the StG44 in production for many years. Probably cranked out hundreds of thousands of them. They were still being issued to East German army units into the 1980's.

My nephew spent a lot of time in the 1990's "liberating" former Soviet munitions warehouses on the African continent for Uncle Sam. There are far more 1940's through 1970's weaponry still waiting to be "liberated" than the UN would ever like to admit.....
