If every legislature were held to account for the actual results their laws produced.... Very few of them would ever get re-elected. Wonder how we'd manage to get the "news media" to actually focus on those results instead of the passing of one piece of legislation or other.

The various laws regarding weapons that any young cop is required to learn and enforce in his/her state have always been a prime example of just how badly you can deal with a perceived problem - and just how long some of those ridiculous laws will stay on the books after they're shown to be problematic....
