“’Assault weapons’: An assault weapon by Department of Defense definition has to have selective fire capability; that is, a machine-gun. A semi-automatic requires a separate squeeze of the trigger for each shot. The law that the gun banners wrote defines an assault weapon as having two of the following features: a pistol grip, bayonet lug, folding stock or flash suppressor. So if you tapped a knife to a broom handle and attached a pistol grip you would have an assault weapon.â€
