Oh this drivel is just a taste of what is to come.
Flee from Iraq and ban all evil guns in the country and peace and prosperity will return to this good nation.
Good common sense from people with pedrigree by God.
If you have no clue what I am babbling about I will give you a clue, Barak Obama.
And absolutely no, I have no plans of voting for this joker, but mark my words, the fun has just begun.

The Broward sheriff’s office confiscated 25 of these weapons in a week’s time.

source not identified - how convenient! said:
Many beat cops have to buy their own rifle at a cost of more than $1,000.

Let me get this straight... someone says beat cops have to pay $1000 for an assault rifle but they don't have the money? So that's $25,000 a week they're saving by confiscating them from criminals? Approved at this level!

See BS said:
They’re cheap, they’re easy to get and they’re powerful enough to pierce body armor.

“You have to up the ante a little bit; you don’t want to go to a gunfight with a knife,” Caldwell told CBS News correspondent Kelly Cobiella.

Agreed! At 25 a week, these free, 600 round per minute armor-piercing hip-firing full-auto bullet-spraying assault weapons sound like just the solution they need. Did I mention they're free?

What a crock. :barf:

Does anyone have an email for Ms. Couric's boss? Perhaps we could help her return to her previous career, getting colonoscopies on morning talk shows.

I didn't see the piece, but I saw a promo in which Ms. Couric said something about how police officers are arming themselves with the very assault rifles that criminals are using against them. That's all I needed to see--any so-called journalism that would lead off with a damned-fool statement like that is not worth watching.

Let's start a coordinated letter writing campaign to the brass at CBS and help Ms. Couric make the career change she so desperately needs to make.

Here was the scary part:

9. If tragedies like Columbine and Virginia Tech won't cause gun control legislation to pass, will anything?

We will take action to slow our nation’s gun violence. It is inevitable. The only question is how long it will take – how many more will die or be injured before we do something about it. There are many of us dedicated to fighting for common sense gun laws. For the sake of the families of gun violence victims in America and all of us who help pay the costs and suffer the consequences of the decline in public safety and security, I desperately hope we take action sooner rather than later. I don’t think America wants to declare defeat on this issue.

I am at least somewhat happy to known that CBS has terrible ratings and by the comments I saw after reading the news article that there are some well informed people countering this idiocy.

I just watched it on the CBSNEWS web. Typical trash. The reporterette mis identified two SKSs as AKs. She was also talking with a gangbanger that had an UZI with the long barrel covered with a shroud - the civilian version. He was talking "spray and pray" but was hesitant to say "full auto". Where is the BATFE to arrest this jerk if he has illegal class 3 weapons?

My response in the comments section:
I hope you realize that if the gang member was a felon, then your reporter probably committed a felony when she handed the firearm back to him.
If he is not a felon, then he was most likely not a gang memmber and a fake.

If he was not a gang member, but the Uzi was an unregistered full auto Uzi, then she probably committed a felony handling it (possessing) and then handing it back to him.
If it was not a full auto Uzi, then the interview was a fake.

Which is it? Will your reporter be investigated by the ATF, or was the story a total fake and staged?
