Yes, rifle crime declined 2005-2006. You'd never know it from the media hysteria about small-caliber rifles with modern styling, though.

Katie and CBS act as if it's the early 1990s all over again, forgetting that since the ban ended civilian ownership of black rifles has skyrocketed.

The Democrats in New Jersey can't even get a "strengthened" assault weapon ban passed, what makes Katie think there's a receptive audience across the country?

LOL, 6-12 week wait for a Rock River Arms, Entry Tactical... so they're either really slow at makeing them or they're flying off the shelves. The ban ended 3 years ago and the AR style rifle has become more popular than ever... you see alot of crime going on with $1000+ rifles.

Shows like this just push some people to stock pile 30 round mags and ammo, "hurry up and get it, the Demmys are comeing back to ban them again". Just to find more loop holes than a mesh bag, look at CA law & CA crime rate... now look at the District of Columbia, a higher murder rate than Bagdad Iraq. Yup got'ta love that gun control.

i dont know about anyone else who saw this, but it wasnt as bad as i expected. the basic premise of the piece (for anyone who didnt see it) was that regular beat cops in certain areas are starting to carry ar-15's in their patrol cars to avoid being outgunned by criminals (i was under the impression that this is nothing new). anyways, it was definatly left-leaning but didnt come right out and call for a ban on "assault weapons". ps, did anyone else notice the "ak-47" laying on the table that cops had confiscated was actually an sks with a 30 round magaizine?

What makes these loonies think that criminals will just lay down and obey arcane law? And what makes them think that, even if they did, it would make any difference? Heck, I don't even obey arcane and stupid laws, it's just the way of things. Not only that, but you stress the police force more if you make stupid arcane laws that you then enforce. So now, officer Joe is at some poor dude's house, confiscating an SKS instead of at the school when Cho-wannabe shows up.
Brilliant!

"Surelyt the founders couldn't have forseen the great strides in communications, from smoke signals and screaming in the 13 colonies to today's mass communications where Katie Couric and CBS News can feed BS to millions of ignorant people at the same time." Freedom of the Press is obselete!!!! [/sarcasm]

Did you see the AK-47 firing full auto? How about the UZI firing full auto? Did you hear the "...can fire 600 rounds with one pull of the trigger?" I personally have never seen a 600 round UZI mag. Then they interview some gangbanger who has "...an UZI and an AK-47...," and the reporter gal asks if they're "...set for automatic..."

Geez. What a waste of air and broadcast time.

ECS

I wonder how much Katie eats. She'd have to eat, like, constantly to keep up the steady stream of scheize that she keeps putting out.

The typical anti-gun person has NO common sense. Facts have no meaning for them. They "feel" instead of think.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED!!! none of the 20,000 gun laws presently on the books kept Sir Grady from buying an uzi for $200 sans paperwork, MORE is surely the answer:rolleyes:

Kelly: "Is that semi automatic or full automatic"
G: "Yes":D

Judging from the level of "gun safety" or lack thereof this guy displayed, I can only imagine a house somewhere in Miami with a ceiling that looks something like swiss cheese. Who knows, this guy might have been on the "saturday night special" episode of CBS's "when guns attack" showing off his 25auto, until BOOM! a crew of clueless morons forgot to check if it was loaded, and poor Grady puts one in his chest.

is that set to automatic?

damn, they even asked if the clip was loaded after he swept everyone in the room a couple times.

I imagine this little gem of stupidity is probably playing on an eternal loops somewhere in gunnie hell.

here it comes.
:barf:
still don't feel better.

Great!!!

I was trying to think of a good comedy to watch tonight while I clean my AR and AK that took out shooting this weekend:D

The term “assault weapon” was coined by gun companies, who used it in the 1980’s to market their product. It means a weapon designed for use by soldiers in war to kill large numbers of people in a crowded setting as rapidly as possible: a weapon with features like high-capacity ammunition magazines, grenade launchers, flash suppressors that cloak the location of the shooter, and barrel shrouds to prevent the shooter from getting his hands burned after prolonged, rapid fire.
yeah, I wonder if this guy knows that the term assault rifle or sturmgewer was coined in the 40's by the germans. But, that would require him to pull his head out of his butt so he could read the definition. And thats good reporting when you get an unsafe gang banger who probably bought his uzi illegally to serve as your firearms expert.

Did anyone else notice the "ak-47" laying on the table that cops had confiscated, was actually an sks with a 30 round magaizine?

I did notice that actually. That news report was so innacurate I wonder how the reporter ever learned how to tie her shoes.

And if that gang-banger looking dude at the end really did have a full-auto Uzi, why was he not arrested after the taping? According to www.impactguns.com , their legal Uzi's run about $8,000.*

How many folks think that guy had a spare $8,000 laying around the house?

And where can I pick up a $200 Uzi & AK? The cheapest AK I know of is a $300 Saiga & that's without the EBR features.

did anyone else notice the "ak-47" laying on the table that cops had confiscated was actually an sks with a 30 round magaizine?

According to the media, just about anything is an "AK-47".

These freaking liberals are gonna try and "common sense" our freedoms right into the grave if they can. :barf:

Common sense doesn't seem so common now days.

They'd like to see us disarmed so thugs, gang bangers, criminals, rapists and pitchfork killers can kill, rob, assault and rape our wives, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters and the only thing that we'd be able to legally do is call the police (who have guns) instead of doing the job of defending ourselves the way that nature intended.

What a bunch of morons.

I guess they've never heard that America is supposed to be free.

has anyone seen the second video on that page? "AK-47 Owner Says He Needs It" Then he talks about his Uzi :banghead: 5 minutes of lies.

Kelly Cobiella interviews Grady "G," an illegal gun owner, about why he feels that he needs to own an AK-47 for safety. "G" is among a growing number of AK-47 owners in Florida.

They didn't even blur out his face.

I emailed the Miami division of the ATF. Either this guy needs to get put away like the rest of us, or CBS needs to get in trouble for lying to us.

Oh, this is sad... don't read it.

rdhood lamented:

If they can get people to believe that gun control is "common-sense", then they can elect officials who believe that the Constitution is a "living document", and then appoint judges who interpret the 2nd right out of existence.

Yeah, like the Bible is a "living document."

Sorry, mods. It had to be said.

anyways, it was definatly left-leaning but didnt come right out and call for a ban on "assault weapons".

That's because there is a certain method that goes into these types of things. It's like a Picasso painting, It isn't just automatically done... You put the basic shape out there on paper (media mentioning), then add a little color over time(politicians talking), then you blurr the lines a bit for realism (so-called gun experts and police talking about how evil guns are), then you have a public showing and Viola!

A call for an assault weapon ban...
