ordered a 960 last week to use as a range beater. came in today and WOW, this thing is BIG for a .38. thought it would be the size of maybe a s+w mod. 19 but its more like a 686. this is a nice revolver, pinned bbl, recessed chaimbers, fully adjustable sights, adjustable main spring and locks up great. but she is big. i know this has been ask before but... are these things rated for +P ? cut down to 3inch or a tad less and this old girl just may see some carry time!!

Actually, the Astra 960 was patterned after the S&W Model 28 N-Frame. I have an Astra 960 and I like it a great deal. Also, I have the owners manual which states that the gun shoots only .38 Special ammo-but, .38 Special +P isn't indicated at all!

I also have a 960 and I'll shoot +P with it all day long. The thing is a very well-made beast of a revolver. I don't think that any run-of-the-mill +P will harm that gun.

Note: Keep in mind that the above is only my personal opinion so proceed at your own risk....
