I saw a used Astra A-70 9mm pistol at a gun shop for $259. I cannot find a lot of information on this gun. Does anyone know if it is worth the price? Also, can you shoot +p ammunition in it?

Thanks

I just did an inspection on a customer's Astra A-70 a month ago. They seem like pretty well made guns. Parts are somewhat difficult to find but the slide to frame fit was very good on the one I inspected. I would imagine that the gun could handle +p being all metal construction but I wouldn't feed it a constant diet of it due to increased parts wear and lack of replacement parts. As far as price goes $259 sounds reasonable. Is it a private sale or a gun shop? If it only comes with one magazine I would negotiate $225 because replacement mags run about $39 for an OEM mag.

Had one years ago, good solid pistol. Wish I hadn't sold it, but spare parts are hard to come by, since the Spanish gun makers all went belly up 10+ years ago. Numrich or Old Western Scrounger might carry stuff.

Astra made fine pistols, including the A70, but they went out of business and parts are difficult to find.

Company closed in 1998 They made a pretty good pistol They made the Colt Jr 22 short and 25 auto for Colt from 1958 to 1968 Then were forced to stop importation by gun control act of 1968
