Astra M-75 Questions

Does any one out there own an Astra M-75 and how do you like it. Does any body know where I can buy a Astra M-75 Inox in 9mm. Also who imports these pistols now. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I think Astra is out of business but

I think also that European American Arms corp still sells Astra Parts.

I hope someone can correct this if I am wrong.


I have an 9mm Astra 75 clone that uses Astra 75 magazines. My version is really nice. It is heavy with steel frame but handles recoil very well. Nice trigger. Very solid little pistol. I think it is a good design and think if SIG made a clone it would be a very high quality.

Only thing is the weight. The clone is the RAP 401 and 440 in 9mm and 40 respectively. I think I might like to compare the RAP to an Astra if I ever get the chance. Perfect size to carry but it is heavy for carry.

I had an A-75 9mm several years ago. It was a nice little, reliable gun. A bit heavy for its size, but this made it comfortable to shoot. I wound up trading it in towards a S&W Model 28, though.

AFAIK, Astra is no longer in business.

Carried an A-70 for a while, the SA version. Good pistol. Good luck on finding one, time to haunt the gunshows and pawnshops. Get parts from Numrich.

Astra A-75

I have owned a A-75 in the nickle finish for quite a few years and have probably put thousands of rounds through it. Its a very good shooting pistol but it is a little heavy. I would advise using snap caps for dry firing as I did break a firing pin.
The finish on mine has held up quite well as I have carried it alot and it has been in and out of holsters. All in all a solid gun. I did see a like new one at a show recently for $350.00 in blue finish.

I have a couple for a number of years and like them. As mentioned, a bit heavy for their size but also shoot well for their size, IMO. You would probably be more able to find a RAP 401 more easily as they were more recent. They are essentially a copy of the A75 with the exception of adding a safety function to the decocking lever.

I can tell you the A-75 is much easier to find than the RAP. I have been looking for either an RAP 401 or 440, and come across Astras much more often.

I have a collection of Astra A-100s in various calibres and finishes. They are well-made, easy to clean, reliable, and accurate. The A-100s were the last model Astra put out, but I think they are similar to the the 75s.

Actually, the A-75 came out the same time, more or less, as the A100. The 100 is an evolved A80 and as such, is an older design. The 75 came out only two or three years before Astra went under. The 75 uses the Sig style lockup (rather than the Browning style of the A100) and has a single-side trigger bar (which helps it be so very smooth) on the right side. It is also a single-stack compact whereas the 100 is a double-stack full-size combat arm. Having owned both, they are very different but do have a similar aesthetic. In any case, Astra was a fine pistol maker and its collapse is a real shame.

My A-75

This gun is about 10 yrs old and has about 5000 rnds through it. Not a lot I guess but just shows that its a strudy piece.
