Hi, Guys! I've never posted to this forum, but do read the threads frequently for good information and hope someone may have some input on this topic.
I have an Astra A75 in 9mm. The slide has always been very stiff and required some force to operate by hand. Not so much of an issue for me, but my wife has trouble with it sometimes and it is much more stiff than other handguns that I've dealt with. I feel that this is a spring issue, not a "breaking in the gun" issue as I have shot this pistol quite a bit. I keep it cleaned and lubed as well.
Is this stiffness a characteristic of the Astra? I have no baseline info to go on in this area. This is the only Astra that I have ever owned.
Also, would trimming one or two coils off of the recoil spring reduce the force required to operate the slide (without causing other problems.)
