I have a cute little Constable that I absolutely adore. However, lately, I have had an issue with the single action aspect of the weapon. With the hammer completely back (weapon completely clean and good ammunition), pulling the trigger will only result in putting the hammer to half cock only, only rarely going all the way to the firing pin as it should. From half cock, though, and pulling all the way through (double action), it will fire.

Not to mention, occasionally, when firing, the weapon will slip to half cock instead of full cock. I have to pull the trigger twice on a lot of occasions.

What is wrong with my baby!? It is the most chipper and fun of all my guns (including my AR and many, many others) because its old, accurate and a blast to shoot. While considered by many to be a "cheap" gun, I love it regardless. Any ideas? Thanks in advance,

The Chimp

I have the .22LR version of your gun!
I agree, they were way under-rated back in the day.

Just guessing, but it sounds to me like the full-cock hammer notch and / or sear is worn to the point it releases before the sear can clear the hammer safety notch.
And dropping to the safety notch is further beating the sear angle to death.

Probably going to require a new hammer, and possibly a sear.

Don't know where you would find them unless gunparts.com has a few parts left.
