I'll start of with no, my son didn't come, he was in trouble. :(
I went to the range to meet with a former coworker to give her some more trigger time and help, (she did great), and do some chrono work with the CZ 527M and the Berry's .310 125gr PFP. I really like this bullet. :) By the way, the range was CROWDED today! Lots of families out, shooting as family units, very nice to see.
I wanted to try shooting my light rifle from more realistic positions at a small coyote target I found at AR15outfitters.com, as I doubt I will have a bench and rest in the field. ;) But the neat part of the story isn't shooting the coyote, it isn't the chrono data, it isn't the Kadet Kit working very well with cheap Federal 36 grain PHP ammo...it was the gentlemen shooting next to me.
The elder of the two was there first, and having difficulty with his brand new Mini-14 NRA edition. I showed him how to lock the bolt back and set the magazine in. Very nice man, looked about in his 60s. No, I was wrong, as he proudly stated, he turned 80 yesterday. Korean War vet, ran a BAR with the US Army. I shook his hand and thanked him for his service, which got a big smile. His son showed up, and began assisting his father, who was having a blast. At one point the older man went down range during a cease fire to check targets, and I commented to his son, "You have no idea how much I envy you." When he asked why, I said, "I'd give anything to go shooting with my Dad one more time." I swear he got misty eyed. You never know how much you still need them until they are gone.
All in all, very fitting for Memorial Day.

Oh, yeah, the shooting. Here's a representative - I had a flyer on every single target, and knew it when I squeezed off the round. Without the flyer, it's 1.5"...with is 2.75"...dagnabbit. This is with a hunting load of 123gr Hornady SP. Yes, that says kneeling, the wind was flipping the paper while I was trying to write. :) I'm no rifleman, that's obvious - especially on the Internet. ;)

I think I am on the right path. Also George the Bee showed up, and just HAD to say hello to everyone, which made my shooting companions very nervous for some reason. I asked him to leave them alone, and he did. Very well behaved bee, he is.

Happy Memorial Day!
