Took my step son and his boss to the range yesterday.....we shot my Glock17 and Sp101...his boss had never even held a handgun before(he's a new rifle shooter)...he did ok....my step son is getting pretty good....we a had a great time.then we went to the rifle range.............let's just say..it's a good thing I can shoot handguns pretty good....I suck at rifle shooting....not sure why.A combo of arthritis and bad eyes a guess......his boss had a Marlin 234(?)..deer gun w/ a great scope..I did pretty good w/ that and my old 10/22......but it was like work....I'll stick to the handguns.....
I'm trying to pass on the love of shooting to my step son,and he likes it,but he's in school and working so it's hard to find the time....I told him to get his pistol permit .....someday my guns will be his.......
My fondest memory growing up is of shooting w/ my Dad(we still do it too)..even tho I'm entering my step's life late in the game,I hope I'm creating some good memories for him too........

I also learned with my Dad. I've taught my sons...both now out shoot me. Its never too late to start working on the memories. Good on you! Heres hoping you have many years together with lots of range time sprinkled in.
Mark.

Tony ..... GREAT!!!:)

I wish i could say my Dad schooled me .. it was not because he was anti gun ... far from it ... just that we had too little time and budget for such things back then. I have however had some pride in as much as, I schooled my son and daughter way back and they have turned out just fine. Some may have seen the pic of my daughter at the range this last August.

I also have more recently had my own step son to the range - with his buddy ... it was useful and needs repeated.:)

Goodonya!

I had a stepson once...never any input from his dad, discouraged by his dad to even hang around guns when grandpa, uncles were a visiting, plinking on property.

I dunno anything about that kid now...I do know I introduced him to firearms, got his mom re-kindled in interest and CCW. Time passes, we move on...gee I hope those two have some good memories, and keep the lessons shared honed.

TonyB,

It's NEVER too late. You are passing on a gift that someone gave to you. Thats a pretty groovy thing. :D
