At Today's Prices, How Much $$$$/Ammo's Worth Did Youy Burn Today?

I also shot some .45ACP cast reloads and some .30 Carbine reloads.

Post-panic cost: about $80 total. Ouch!

Based on price tags on the boxes, I went through about $45 of .300 win mag quality hunting cartridges recently. Three boxes of 20 at $12, $15, & $18. The $15 box was Winchester silvertip premium. Current prices? Probably $35 to $50 per box. Ouch. What happened to our ammo prices?! I remember thinking that $18 box was highway robbery (it was the fanciest hunting ammo I could find at the time).

I let 20 rounds rip from my 338 Lapua 3 days ago while turkey hunting. That was a bit over $100 while the single 3 1/2" 12 ga turkey load I shot was $3.

I spent about an hour with the air rifle, plinking in the back yard. What's 100 or so .177 pellets cost? $1?
I had never considered that. Now I don't know if I should thank you for saving me a ton of money, or curse you for prompting me to go out and get yet another gun!

Seriously, I can see some real value in an air gun. Thanks for posting this.

I performed a spring cleaning in my F-250 yesterday and today.
Last fall I purchased 2,000 9mm projectiles which were on special.
One of the boxes broke open spilling projectiles throughout the truck.
I found 236 9mm projectiles today so this was a negative day as far as ammo depletion goes.

Shot prairie dogs yesterday, about 300 rounds of .223, .17 Remington, .243 and .22-250 before the wind came up. Needed to get out, it has been a long winter. Only good news is all of my primers were 10 bucks a thousand from the eighties. Bad news, I will pay way more than that to replace them.

Zero, none, nada. :(

I've done very little shooting so far this year. I still have some 9mm, 45ACP and 5.56mm on hand but not much so for the most part any additional shooting with any would clean me out. I have not shot any .22 since last year, because I allowed myself to shoot everything I had on hand without immediately replacing it.

The only thing I've been able to restock on recently was a couple of 100 round boxes of WWB in .45ACP. I'll probably take that out soon to give my Glock 36 a workout, but I keep dragging my feet on that because I can't count on being able to replace it again any time soon.

I hate this :cuss:

This is interesting. Some have had to refrain from shooting, some are shooting ammo or components from as long as 30 years ago, and the rest know that WHAT they shoot will cost them more to replace than it used to. I WANT to keep shooting, and not let this socially induced phenomenon mess with my lifestyle, but even the shooter discarded, leftover brass at the range is dwindling, as fewer and fewer people are able to get out and shoot. Bad thing is, we are such a selfish society that even if 90% of us back off, and refrain from shooting or buying ammo for a month, the other 10% will buy everything, hoard it, and then sell it to the rest of us later for double.

my 13yr old son and I just got back from shooting pistols (.22 & 9mm) we spent about $15 worth total.. had a great time, my son shot daddy's BHP and lost interest in the 22LR :D

Well since today is another day, I guess I burned a brick of blazer. My brother in law told me my nephew bought a Marlin 60 and can't find .22 ammo.

So between Easter dinner and desert, I drove home (close) and got him a brick of blazer and told him happy birthday when ever it comes up again.

That was from 159.00 a case stuff from Dunns delivered two summers ago so I spent 15.90 today.

$0.00 today, same as every day since Sandy Hook. I did some ammo purchasing before the New Year but no shooting.

26 rounds of 300 BLK today before the rain started.

Cost? No idea. I buy components in bulk at normal or sale prices.

I no longer obsess about the unit cost.

Saturday we had a fun shoot and I sent 60 rounds of 7.62x39, 150 rounds of 9x19, 200 rounds of 22LR, 80 rounds of M2 ball, and 15 rounds of 12 gauge down range. While the others let rip with all manner of full auto. Many tanerite charges exploded too.
Great fun was had by all!

100 rounds of 9mm so maybe $35 for that. Also shot a 20 round mag of Tula 223 I paid $5 for last year, but it would probably be closer to $20 these days.

Twenty-four rounds of 10mm. I am in abject denial of the price per round.

I got lucky the other day and bought three hundred rounds of .22 at WalMart. It makes me sick to think I used to walk past the hundreds of boxes that used to be there and say "Eh, I'm good. I'll pick some up when I need it."

Was talking to the guy behind the counter, and he said an entire family came in and bought out the whole stock, bragging that they were selling it for profit. They just lined up and bought their three boxes apiece.

Grrrr....

Before Sandy Hook our club which sells firearms, reloading components and ammo primarily for pistol, and reloading equipment would sell Hornady 55gr FMJ WC for $100/1,000.
I would buy it whenever I needed it.
I can no longer find .224 bullets in bulk anywhere in Canada for less than $160/1,000 for Lake City.
I still have a little over 1,200 remaining and enough powder and primers for another 2,000.

I can still find federal 5.56 at our club for $8.00 a box with a limit which I believe is 10 boxes per week. This is with our membership card and no selling to outsiders. I can also purchase Norinco 5.56 for $450/1.600 rounds but accuracy is anywhere from 2-4 MOA depending on who you ask.

I can also buy Hornady 52gr projectiles in 500 round boxes but I don't know how they will shoot in a 1-8" twist rifle.

I know you guys have it worse but rumor has it that we may not see any more components till 2014.

Well we just returned from shooting 1200 rounds of 7.62 NATO in the 1919A4 so I guess I would have spent a lot. However I reloaded it all so..........

What would be the actual cost of your componets to load this much ammo? I think that would be a more suitable question.

I've seen that. It's annoying. Then again, we did the same thing last week when our LGS got 5.7x28 in stock. Difference was, we actually wanted to shoot it (and we did!) For those who buy just to resell, I really hope they get stuck with a bunch of ammo they don't even want and end up selling at a loss. Unlikely to happen though...

Nothing but 6mm airsoft through a full weight gas blowback pistol. Until ammo markets return to a steady supply on the shelf, I plan to consume as few rounds as possible.

I ran about 60 rounds of 7.62 Russian surplus through my Mosin today to see whether corking the barrel made a difference. I believe it made quite a positive difference as I was able to make the 300 yd gong dance with about every shot. I also fired around 40 rounds of .357 Mag through my Ruger GP-100 shooting at empty 12 ga shotgun casings. I got a double bonus from the .357 rounds as now I don't have to purchase any brass to reload......
