At Whitehouse.gov...

How this works is if enough people sign on to this "petition" it goes to the White House.

Whether you support GOA, NRA, 2nd A Foundation, Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian, Cynic or Optimist, here's an opportunity for ALL of us to send a clear focused message that any version of an AWB isn't wanted.

Petition signed ...

For other N00bs to this process ... on the Petitions webpage you will have to "create an account" ... fields to input First, Last, Email addy and Zip code ... you will receive an email with a URL or Link of where to respond ... that URL/Link takes you back to the webpage so that you can "sign" the Petition.

Only takes a couple of minutes. :)

Is there a plan to reinstate the AWB of 1994? I assumed they would write up something complete new. If the president or anyone else ever sees this petition, they can honestly say they did exactly what the petition asked and did not reinstate the old AWB, but came up with a new one. Seems like nitpicking semantics, but who is better at doing just that than the fed.gov?

Signed, FWIW.

It isn't so much that they can pull a lawyer move, but that they will make an official reply to the petition. It basically forces them to go on record.

Agreed, the wording could have taken some upscale massaging, but signed it anyway.

So now, if we weren't already, we're on a "to be watched list" brought to you by our tax dollars, hard at work, in the pursuit of truth, justice, and the American way.

Still clinging to my lead-slingers and religion...

Not this crap again......

It's worthless, just like all online "petitions" this is no more than a popularity contest. Heck "voting" by phone on American Idol is more likely to get an outcome than Whitehouse.gov surveys.

Seriously folks.............do you REALLY believe that an online petition will somehow result in change? If you do, fine. But please show where a single petition resulted in a change to law.

Me? I think one email or letter to my elected Congressman carries more weight than 1,000 "likes" on Facbook or 500,000 signatures on an online "petition".

These Whitehouse.gov petitions carry ZERO credibility and are merely a way for the administration to say they are listening to the people.

Signed, fun to hit refresh every few seconds and find a couple more signatures added.

Signed. Also, they should really have moderators on there to clear out some of the ridiculous petitions that people post, such as:

Establish new legal system of motorcycle riding "Judges" who serve as police, judge, jury, and executioner all in one. For those who think that Judge Dredd is actually a guide on how to run the justice system.

Build a statue of Master Chief Petty Officer Spartan John-117 on the lawn of the White House. For those who really really like the the Halo video games.
