ATI, the importer for the GSG MP-5 look-alikes in 22 will be importing a full sized Sturmgewehr 44 also in 22. I am not real big on the .22 replica but this rifle just looks so infamous it will be hard to resist. I wonder if a spare barrel will be offered for shooting around corners?

And Saiga 12 haters rejoice...they also plan to import an AR styled (versus patterned after, most likely zero parts interchangeability) 12 Ga. This looks like a fairly standard gas action gun with the gas system under the barrel. 5 shot magazines will be standard but I am sure higher capacity mags will soon follow.

Yes someone put the removable front sight on backwards on the top shotgun...stuff happens

I've heard some rumblings from the SHOT show that there will also be a MP-40 in .22lr. Time to start saving my pennies. :D

If some one is going to make higher capacity magazines they best hope that it is easy enough to swap out parts to make the thing 922r compliant. It doesn't look like the stock comes off, any US hand gaurds that will fit it? Can the grip be readily swapped? Any US FCG that will fit.

I like the idea, and if it is well executed it could be a winner. I'd like to know a lot more about it before I get too excited though. Saigas only took off in popularity as higher capacity magazines and parts became more widely available. Even with five rounders the thing could be formidable if it runs but it wont sway open class 3 gunners, and certain other folks without higher capacity mags.

If the STG 44 is more like the GSG 5 and less like the GSG AK (which was just too cheesy) it could be interesting.

We can get the STG 44 and MP 40 in 7.62 Kurz and 9mm in semi auto only here in Europe. However at a tag of over 3K Euros or 4k+ USD they are expensive

How much $$ ???
Its a must have for me. 22 mag would be awesome ,& fit my needs a lil better.

If GSG would come out with a Garand, M14, and Thompson in .22 that would be heaven...a lot of people have made replicas over the years, GSG is the only one that's really done it right every time.

The rep from ATI just made a post over on the AR15.com board.

I wanted to let you know that these guns both stemmed from our customer feedback and desire. You guys beat the heck out of us on the STG 44, so we made GSG whip up some protos for the show to prove to them in person that there was the demand.

So development will start as soon as the Germans return home. Please bear in mind that all the R&D still needs to happen, factory tooling etc, so we're not going to see these models until sometime next year. The important point though is that because of all of you out there telling us what you want, we're sure to have two more hits on our hands.

Which means we have to wait until 2012. KHAAAAN! :cuss:

If he quality is on par with everything else ATI has given us then I can see myself buying one of each when they finally hit the market.

I'm pretty sure if they made a .22 M-14, with actual M-14 sights, they would have at least a few thousand guaranteed sales from all the Appleseed folks.

I actually think their .22 AK kind of sucked. That said I liked the GSG 5, I've handled but not shot their 1911 so I can't really opine on it. That MP40 does get me excited. It's just cool.

It will be interesting to see what they turn out as the end product.

I'm still waiting for someone to take one of the G3 .22 conversion kits, figure out how to make it work in an M14, and start producing them in quantity. We now have conversions for the M4, M9, AK rifles, several Glocks and SIGs - I think this is an idea whose time has come. Any of you here want to take on such a project?

Looks like that MP-40 is an SBR.
Only if the stock is functional, and not pinned in place. The Sterlings get around the SBR issue the same way - by making the stock non-functional.
