Home invasion suspect killed after wounding resident

A burglar was shot and killed Wednesday after wounding a resident at an Atlanta apartment, police said.

The burglar broke into the apartment in a gated complex on Piedmont Avenue across from the Atlanta Civic Center about 12:30 a.m. He shot resident Tracy Harris, who stumbled to a neighbor's apartment and collapsed, according to Marion Lee, Atlanta police public information officer.

The injured resident's brother, who was upstairs in the apartment, got his own gun and shot the burglar, she said.

Harris was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was in surgery, Lee said. He had been shot in the chest and leg.

Police did not release the name of the burglar, 48.

The apparent motive was robbery, Lee said.

The radio just gave the name of the burglar but I didn't catch it.

It is very unfortunate that a poor, harmless, oppressed, downtrodden member of our community was shot down in cold blood by a gun-toting NRA gangster KKK insane fascist monster just for wandering into an apartment to get out of the bitter cold and blizzard while waiting for a bus. We must immediately ban possession of guns by those who do not have a criminal record and so do not deserve our trust and pity.

(There, is that PC enough? And if we say there was a blizzard in Atlanta in July, there was!)

I don't think we should go back to the old west... there was prolly some stuff that went on over stupid crap... (gun wise) but i'd sure like to think that if more burglers bit it... they MIGHT think twice about burglerizing - at least in someones house... heh

Well, yeah, but you left out the part about the sniper AK-47s and Uzi assault weapons flooding the streets, and you didn't say anything about the children.
