Anyone familier with ATN Optics? I haven't heard good things about them in the past but no one has really explained why they have come to that conclusion. I owned one of their 8X24X75 daytime scopes. The only reason I got rid of it was because it weighed about as much as my rifle did. as far as holding a zero and ease of use It seemed ok. Sight picture was clear, maybe a little yellow tint. Are These scopes notorious for not holding Zeros? What is the deal on them??? Also, how about their night vision optics? Anyone have any feedback on those or does anyone out there own one? How far can you see with a Gen 1, Gen 2.

Thanks Guys.

One other cruddy thing that I noticed with them was that when you zoom in, the reticle zooms with the image.

Without speaking to the ATN scope quality in any other way, this behavior is actually considered A Good Thing in certain circles...

Yep, many consider the lack of that as the biggest shortcoming of Nightforce scopes, and pay Premier Recticles to convert their Leupolds. It's called having a first focal plane recticle.

In reference to this statement, Yes, however, If you want to shoot at 1000 yards and turn your reticle down to the appropriate mark the reticle will be on the bottom of the scope, unless of course you put a large degree of cant on it, then at 100 yards your reticle is up top. This behavior is manageable on 8X but when I cranked it up to 24X The POI was either at the far base of the field of view or at the top, depending on how your set up. you really have to struggle to get a good sight picture in this fashion. Are these types of scopes made to be set up for a certain yardage and nothing else? Do any of the quality manufacturers make Reticles that behave like this?
