I want to attach sling swivel studs to a 10/22 with a synthetic stock. Can I use wood screws to do this? Or do I need special screws for the synthetic stock??

I am thinking about using the barrel band to attach the sling to on the front end. Is that a good idea?

Drill a hole to insert a hat nut (Lowes or Home Depot) from the inside (machine screw size 10-32?) of the QD stud.

On the butt end of the stock I will need to use a screw into the stock that cannot be held on with a nut. Should I put some super glue or loctite or epoxy to get the screw threads to hold better in the plastic, or will it hold well without it.

I wouldn't screw into the plastic. Get a sling that will loop around that end of the stock.

You will have no problems mounting a screw into the plastic. A 10/22 doesn't weigh a ton.

I've done it on a Ruger 10/22 composite stock. I didn't use any adhesive; the key is drilling a pilot hole just smaller than the minor diameter of the thread on the screw.

I have used the barrel band attachment (which will require filing the band a little to work correctly), the wood screw, as well as the machine screw/nut and all work equally well with composite. On my 10/22 (with a wood stock) I used the barrel band mount and the wood screw, when I replaced the stock with an aftermarket composite I used wood screws front and back and left off the barrel band completely.
