Help with slings and QD Studs

First I want to go to an appleseed shoot and need advise on the type of sling they require. I know they teach you how to wrap it around your forearm and also how to detach the back and loop it too. Something with quick detach connections. I am going to put it on an 10/22 but would also like to use the same sling on other rifles.

Second and probably more likely not to get an answer I have an FN49 that has a barrel band swivel on front and a swivel on the butt stock that is held by two screws. For reference the butt swivel looks almost identical to the one on my yugo 24/47 mauser. I would like to find replacement quick detach studs for the sling rings. Also I want to get a QD harris bipod.

If anybody could bird dog me to parts I would be very appreciative.

Never shot an Appleseed (though I need to), but I would imagine that the inexpensive, durable, easy to find M1 Carbine sling would work quite well for the Appleseed shoot (especially for a small carbine like the 10/22). I generally prefer a Outdoors Connection Super Sling II, but they are more difficult to remove (but super easy to adjust), so the carbine sling is probably better in this instance.

No problem, rocinante. I take it you want the stud to attach a bipod? Perhaps you could have a machinist (or gunsmith) mill you a bayonette attachment that would have a stud or picatinny rail on the reverse. You could also look into buying a bayonette to chop up, and weld to make the attachment, but I would imagine that bayonettes are somewhat rare and expensive. That is about the best I can come up with.

I think you are looking for an M1907 type sling for an Appleseed. The M1907 has an easily detached hook at the butt end. The M1907 is also a traditional position shooting sling, which is what Appleseed is all about.

You need to determine what width your swivels are. A true M1907 sling is 1.25". There are slings of the same style in 1" width, as well.

I'm currently an Appleseed Instructor in Training and either the 1907 leather sling or the USGI web sling are suitable to do an Appleseed. There are several places that sell the USGI web sling to include the Appleseed online store.

Do a search for USGI web sling and some options should present themselves.

Last time I was there Dicks Sporting Goods had a M1907 reproduction (1" copy) for about $10.00, so that would be where I would start looking. I have one and it has held up great. Here is a good web sling, one of the cheapest good quality slings available IMO (have one of these that is over 65yrs old and still kickin'). Turner makes the best M1907, but expect to pay a good bit for it.
