At the Hunter Ed class that I'm taking, last night it was mentioned that there will be a pubilc discussion at the Double Tree Hotel on Alvernon here in Tucson to discuss possible restrictions on shooting on public lands. The anti-gunners will likely be there en masse so we need to be there too to counter their attempts to end all such activities.

More details can be found here . If you show up, obviously remember to dress as though care what other people think (business casual or at least jeans without any rips). We need to project the image that we are responsible, professional individuals who are into recreational shooting and care about our environment. It's the few a$$hats out there shooting road signs, leaving shot up couches and fridges out in the desert, and being unsafe with their handling of guns that give the rest of us a bad name.

Hope to see some of you there!

Which public land? Who is running the meeting?

AZ fish and game
Forest service
State Trust Land

Never mind I followed the link

Treylis, that doesn't mean we should ignore it. This could potentially affect all public land in the state, not just within Tucson city limits or even just Pima County.

If something like this was happening in Berkely, but could affect the whole country would you dismiss it as "It's Berkely, what do you expect?"

Come on down to Tucson for an afternoon. It's only a couple hours drive.

Oh, I think you misunderstood my jocularity. I'm a BIG proponent of not ignoring such things. Unfortunately, I'm working that Saturday, but if there's anything else I can do short of being there--firing off letters/e-mails/etc.--I'll do it.

Now I'm off to check the aforementioned Arizona gunnie e-mail lists to see what other people are saying about it.

Sorry. I'm frequently accused of being too serious and not looking at the lighter side of things.

Anyway, not sure what else can be done other than showing up. I have the "range day" out at Three Points for the Hunter Ed class I'm taking that morning, and was planning to stop in on the discussion on the way home.

Colin, you'd have to call the Double Tree to find out if weapons will be allowed. My recommendation is that if you're going to carry do so concealed if you have the permit. Check your PMs.

Well, the meeting turned out to be utterly dominated by pro-gunners. I hope to have a full report up fairly soon. Colin, were you there? Didn't see you.

Nope, my week was crazy and I didn't get much sleep (work 8-4, school 5-8, recording 9-1) so when Saturday rolled around I didn't wake up until 4pm!

Missed the gun show too...

How did the meeting go in general?

-Colin
