Attention NJ residents/voters

We will be choosing a new governor in the coming months, several have already threw their hat into the ring, few are worth the powder to blow them to hell.
Jon Corzine is an out of touch, limosine liberal who is no better then the girly man that just resigned. He's a tax & spend, big government Democrat that likes to buy his votes through entitlement give-a-ways, and he's no friend of gun owners.
Richard Cody is no better......
As for the republicans, Steve Lonegan comes out shining. I e-mailed him with my concerns about NJ's draconian gun laws, and here is the reply I recieved from his campain people......

solidly pro-gun candidate this state has.

To make the record clear, so you know where I stand, here are just a few
things that I pledge once I become Governor of New Jersey:

1) I will sign a Right-To-Carry bill to give citizens of New Jersey the same
rights as 38 other states.

2) I will challenge New Jersey's absurd "Assault Weapons" definition and
legislation.

3) I will seek to repeal the "Smart Gun" law

4) I will have the opportunity to appoint 5 Supreme Court judges, a
gun-friendly Attorney General and Chief of State Police that will not
persecute gun owners or gun merchants.

There is much to be done in New Jersey with regard to our Constitutional
right to Keep And Bear Arms, and I hope that you will join with us to help
win back what's been taken away.

Wow... that is absolutely amazing! Finally, a politician that makes me proud to be from NJ! The right to carry law is important to me, as in a few years, when I graduate college (and move out of the Commie State of MA), I may actually consider moving back to NJ, AND carry!

Don't count on it. The firearms laws in NJ are in need of serious, serious reform. It will take a long time, and many people are just throwing up their hands in disgust and giving up.

I will keep Mr. Lonegan in mind on election day, but I cannot say that I have much hope that such a thing could pass in NJ.

Perhaps I am just an optimistic youngin', heh. I absolutely would vote for him based on his apparent views, and hope that even if he changes a few things, its better than nothing. Heck, leave the guy in for as long as life allows, even just to get us right-to-carry!

Anyway, If he is honest, and does 1 of the things he says he will, it would have been worth voting for him. Even if he just gets some good Supreme Court appointments, it can lead the way. I mean, as far as I know, hes not the only one in the state who thinks that way, so perhaps we just have to be progressive 1 step at a time! (and independant together!)

It's unfortunite, but for Steve Lonegan to even become a blip on the political radar here in "The Democratic People's Republic of New Jersey", he'd be better off keeping his campian focus away from gun issues, and focused on the state's financial crisis...like all the junk bonds McGreevey sold that will come due several years in the future, and our children will have to pay for.

He led the opposition to McGreevey's gasoline tax, and the guy has made some what of a name for himself as the mayor of Borgata, NJ turning a bankrupt city around, and making it financially secure again. He's all about reducing the size of government, giving small business incentives, and evening out the tax burden so we all pay a fair share, instead of taking from business, and giving it away to welfare crackheads who sit at home and spit out litters of unwanted babies.

He's up against strong opposition from other better known republicans to even make a showing in the primary, but if enough people get behind him, and he makes a good enough showing in the race, that in itself will send a strong message to the other politicians that we as NJ residents, taxpayers, gun owners, and voters are getting tired of the "business as usual" liberal politics in this state, and we want change.

Every one of us has to start somewhere, it's been a while since I wrote a letter to the editor of the Press of Atlantic City, and I just might have one in there soon with a rally cry for the other gun owners, and hunters to start thinking about their next governor, and what that person represents.

That response literally almost brings a tear to my eye. I'm a big fan of Bret Schundler's although, I must admit, Steve Lonegan strikes some remarkable chords.

Actually, out of any of the counties ive been in, i think he has the best chance at winning in mine (warren), as it is a HEAVY republican area, as well as a whole bunch of gun-rights college kids.

Talk about weird, the rest of the state (intentionally vast generalization) creates liberal weenies for college kids, and all warren county makes is gun-nuts.

Heh... I guess we are just THAT cool.

Anyway-- I really, really hope he wins, even if he needs to ride in on another issue. The one thing I think about the gun issue is-- it never hurts to be on the gun side! There are more 1 issue voters on the pro gun side than on the other side! There are people who may be offended by HUGE pro-gunnieness, but a light coating, to get the message to the pro-gunners wont hurt him.

From what I remember Doug Forrester was pretty pro-gun. At least he's got some name recognition and is already running ads. I doubt that even IF Lonegan was able to get elected he'd have any success with getting those reforms through the senate and assembly.

Lonegan doesn't stand a chance of being elected in NJ, especially being so pro gun.

Bret Schundler doesn't stand much of a better chance if he can't get the Republican party behind him this time. They were not in his corner last time and that hurt him bad.

IMHO, Doug Forrester has the best chance. He has backing, he has friends in high places with BIG $'s and he has the $'s of his own to run a fine campaign.

It's gonna be the best Primary in NJ history. The top 3 Republican Candidates are all very, very good. It's unfortunate that 2 are going to lose.

I just dispatched an e-mail to Doug Forrester asking about his stance on the second admendment, and gun owner's rights. When I get an answer, I'll post it here like I did Steve Lonegan's response.

It's true that Forrester has the name reccognition, and the financial support to take his campain to the finish. He also prabaly has a better chance against that limosine liberal Corzine than Lonegan does. I hope he is straight forward about his true feelings on the gun rights issue as Lonegan was. One thing I hate, is a wishy washy answer from a politician who's afraid to take a possition on a hot topic issue.
