I accidentally posted this in the rifle section yesterday. Let's try again. What's your favorite HK 9mm? Why?

HK P30LS.

It is just such a sweet shooter. I have the VP9 too but like the P30LS a little better.

The grip on the P30LS is perfect for my hand and it is a soft shooter. The trigger was pretty good right out of the box with a really nice SA. I changed the hammer spring to 10LB and also the new HK lighter firing pin block spring and now the DA is a really sweet 8.5 LBs. Reset is longish but not a problem for me. Typical HK reliable though about 1000 rounds now.

I can heartily recommend any of the HK handguns. The P7, the USPc and Fullsize, the P30 and P30l are all top-shelf handguns. If I had to choose right this minute I would keep the VP9 for the reasons that it is very accurate and fast shooting in my hands . Oh wait..... I meant the P2000 with the 4.1 LEM trigger because it is very accurate in my hands and it is a great size for CC. No. it would be the ..... Anyway, you get my meaning . You can't choose just one.

The only HK 9MM I own is my new VP9. So it wins by default. Great pistol so far, very accurate, 100% reliable to this point, with a very good out of the box trigger for a duty grade pistol. The LE model I bought with FDE frame came with decent night sighs, and 3 magazines. Ready to go out of the box.

As a bonus the sights are perfectly regulated for me, they place bullets to the top of the front sight out to 50 yards with all the 124gr ammo I've tried so far. Even with my dumb ass running the bang switch nothing strays from the 9 ring on a B27 at 50 yards shooting standing. More practice is needed, but the mechanical accuracy is there. Very shootable pistol.

If I had to pick only one, and that's hard to do, I'd say it's the ultra soft shooting USP because it's such a creampuff. A creampuff built like a tank.

The fact that it cost me only $400 makes it special to me as well.

My friend has one of those. I'm going to ask him to bring it next time that we shoot.

I usually pocket-carry a J frame but there are times I am more comfortable with more. With the P2000 I carry IWB in a Remora.

My HK P7M8

Brilliant design, superb German engineering.

I own a couple HKs, and honestly it depends on your use. For me the P2000 in light LEM is about the perfect CCW pistol. So for a favoit CCW HK, that'd be it.

I also own a HKP30L and a VP9, between the 2 I prefer the P30L, and with the light LEM I actually shoot my P30L better even with the ridiculously long reset. I don't know why exactly but the P30L just feels better to be, and even though their both about identical in size, it seems to balance a little better.

I haven't been able to find a P30L to handle. How does it feel compared to the standard-length P30?

What a tough question to answer! I either have or have had a number of HKs: 2 x USPc9mm, 1 x USPc in .40, 2 x USPf9, 1 x USP45 Tactical, 2 x P30S, 1 x P30L, 1 x P2000 and 1 x VP9 as well as a USC .45 carbine. Picking a favorite would be like choosing a favorite child!

My P30S has a Gray Guns trigger, so it's an amazing shooter. However the VP9 shoots virtually was well OOTB! Both are extremely accurate and supremely easy to shoot.

The USPf9 is an absolute tank. A little big for CCW (although I occasionally do carry it IWB) but a great HD and range gun. It doesn't seem to matter how hot the ammo, it handles it with easy and it probably the softest shooting 9mm I've ever found due to the captive double recoil springs.

The USP45 Tactical is my very favorite .45 ACP handgun. Sadly I sold it finance the purchase of the USC carbine. I miss it a lot but it was a bit too big to carry. Probably the softest shooting .45 I've ever run.

The USPc is a great design but it's the hardest of all their guns for me personally to shoot well. I dunno why, something about the shape? For some reason I just couldn't ever get the point where I was confident in my ability to shoot it well.

The P2000 is my main CCW gun, FWIW. It shoots like a full sized gun, very easy to get good hits with and rapidly. Yet it's pretty easy to conceal. I feel it gives up little to nothing vs the bigger brothers in the lineup.

The next HK I plan to get will be a P30sk. I haven't fired one but just handling them they feel like they retain most of the ergos of the P30 full sized.

The P7 series. Those are some of the finest, coolest handguns I've touched. And I've worked on a few Pythons.

It's obviously a little more nose heavy, which combined with the weight/buffer in the recoil system helps keep it flatter shooting, just not as much muzzle rise.

Picture is a VP9 upper and P30L lower, the silver & polymer is the recoil reduction "system" only in the P30L.

I really like Striker fired pistols and the VP9 is a great striker fired gun, but for some reason(s) I still prefer the P30L to the point I shipped it of to Lazy Wolf Guns to have the reset reduced. Even though both the VP9 and P30 have replaceable backstraps and side panels, the grip on the P30 and VP9 are different due to the mainspring on the P30, they cannot be made to feel identical.

It could very well be that I just prefer the LEM trigger for a defensive gun, but I do find myself moving from carrying striker fired pistols.

For a lot of guys I think the price delta between the VP9 and P30 is an issue, but the P30s are coming down. CDNN just had some V3's listed for $799, whereas P30Ls were in the 1K zone not too long ago.

VP9

Because I prefer 9mm striker fired polymer pistols with no manual safety, and the VP9 shoots beautifully. It has also been very reliable.

Nothing currently. I had a P7, P9, and a USP. Nice guns but didn't do all that much for me. Might consider a VP9 compact version if they come out with one some day.

Have a number of Hk's in various chamberings but The P7M8 is still the favored one. USP Elite close second.

I bought a P30SK a couple months ago and really am digging it too. I wanted to try LEM since it would be primarily for CCW and found that I like LEM too. I usually CCW it with 13 round P2000/USP-C 9MM magazine and X-Grip adapter for the P2000SK that works perfectly as is. This gives me a full grip and a P30SK that is the height of the P2000. The LEM trigger was very sweet right out of the box. I love being able to have my thumb over the hammer while holstering.

First 10 rounds I shot through my new P30SK with the 13 round magazine/X-Grip adapter at 7 yards.

Last picture is in the case so you can see how much shorter it is than a P30 in comparison.
