I'm am looking to add another bullpup to my collection, the price on preban AUG's is ridiculous.The A3(US Made) is coming soon and MSAR makes a clone
the STG. MSAR's STG at this point takes their mags and AUG mags. Their New MSAR E4 is AR Mag specific so 2 AUG clones that accept different mags. Anyone have any experience with any of the above. Early STG's were problem plagued, but post AR forward assist mdls
have been relatively problem free.
The A3 and E4 are shipping as we speak, I believe. Thanks to all.

I had an STG 556. It was a great gun and handled like a dream. It was well made and the fit and finish was very nice. I never benched it to test its accuracy (and I imagine its typical bullpup trigger would hurt it there) but it was plenty accurate for my purposes. It was very reliable. It also got lots of looks at the range. I parted with it only because I would rather have a model that accepted AR mags which I have on hand for other guns and are much cheaper.

If you like bullpups then there is no reason not to get a Microtech, particularly if you like the AUG.

Interestingly enough, I just handled a Microtech. It didn't have a forward assist but the mag that was included was one of the bronze translucent polymer. I don't know what model that makes it exactly because I don't follow those things that closely. It was 5.56 with a 16 inch barrel.

Things I noticed:

-Very light and handy. It came to the shoulder smartly and pointed effortlessly.
-Very short. I am guessing it barely makes the minimum OAL requirement of 26 inches because it was tiny--it looked about as short as my AK with its stock folded and my AK is only 1/4 over minimum length requirements without a flash suppressor.
-Controls were well placed and seemed to behave as they should. The only possible exception to this is the mag release, which might take some getting used to as it was pretty unique. The charging handle, bolt release, and safety were all positive and trouble free.
-Quality and workmanship seemed very good too me. Despite it's light weight and largely polymer construction, there was nothing cheap or flimsy about it.
-And most surprisingly to me, the trigger wasn't bad at all for a rifle of that type. There was a little bit of creep, but it was tolerable and the weight couldn't have been much over 6 pounds, if that. I've heard nightmarish tails regarding the trigger on most bullpups, but the trigger on this one was definitely acceptable.

The price wasn't bad either. This place wanted $500 for most of their SKSs, around $800 for most AKs, not including a $1200 milled RPK clone, but somehow the Microtech was "only" $1900.

I love my MSAR and the Aug design. For the money I'd much sooner have an MSAR than the Steyr. The new Steyr Aug A3 civilian bugs the heck out of me because it looks nothing like the military version of the Aug A3 which I really like. The fact it uses proprietary mags doesn't bother me in the least, I've got plenty of mags for it.

I paid about $1900 for my MSAR and I think it's been worth every penny. I picked it up at the beginning of the year and now have about a thousand rounds through it so far without any issues. It eats whatever ammo brand I feed it and it's very accurate, well balanced and fun to shoot.

I say go for the MSAR, it's a great gun from a great American company and they stand behind their product.

So lemme get this straight - the Microtech (MSAR), even though it takes standard STANAG mags, doesn't even mention this fact as the huge selling point that it is, on their website describing the product?:

The new E4 version that MSAR is going to release is designed to accept standard STANAG mags. The older versions (like I have) only use proprietary mags (Aug mags). There are supposed to be some other design changes to the stock of the E4 version as well but there's not a lot of information available yet.

I have heard great things about them, and am somewhat of a bullpup connesseiur myself. They handle great (haven't shot one), but I find them a bit on [cover your ears] the butt-ugly side...and I like bullpups. In bullpup news today a representative from Kel Tec told me that they are possibly planning to release a pistol caliber bullpup! But knowing KTs reputation lets just hope it will come in the next decade.

Its actually been out for a few months. Here is mine...



I've put about 500rds through it now and it has been accurate and reliable.
