Bullpups

I've always wanted a bullpup rifle, specifically a Steyr AUG, but they are hard to come by. Are there any bullpup rifles manufactured domestically or being imported?

The appearance of the Steyr AUG suggests that it has a thumbhole stock, rather than an evil pistol grip. Therefore, couldn't a domestic clone be legally manufactured?

I don't want to debate the utility of bullpup rifles in general. I just want to add one to the collection.

There's the Bushmaster M17S. Bushmaster M17S

I had one for awhile, it's a nice, handy little carbine. But, optics are a must and add on toys are slim.

Kurt, at Kurt's Kustom Firearms, I think I remember the name correctly, check over at AR.15 com, does some VERY interesting things to the M17.

I had a Bushmaster M17 for a while, and didn't like it at all. With enough customizing it can probably be a pretty nice rifle, but out of the box it sure ain't. Hopefully the Tavor clone from Barrett will be better. You might also look into K-Var's bullpup AK conversion (http://www.k-varcorp.com/AKU.html) - I haven't fired one, but it handles nicely (certainly better than the M17).

There has been a new AUG on sale at my local gun store for over 10 years now. For years I thought of dealing him on it when he wanted $2500 for it, but could not see the worth in it. Now he wants $3500 (fair market) and it still sits there and as far as I am concerned it will remain there.

Well.... I don't have anything in semi-auto, but I love my single-shot M99. Often thought about picking up the Bushmaster M17, but have lots of other priorities so its way down on the list.

Too bad Calico isn't around. Imagine what they could do with a bull pup .17?

There is a FAL bullpup in the works. I can't devulge much more than that, except that this ain't no cheapie little slap on kit.

Hopefully a prototype will be in existence in the first half of 2003.

I got an email from them,and they state that the Tavor will not be imported until late 2003, if ever. They are still working out the details.
