I have an opportunity to pick up a used AMT Auto Mag II (22 WMR) for $250...A friend took it on a trade and wants to break even...any info or suggestions appreciated.
I had one perhaps 18 years ago.
Pretty cool gun.
Fed and ejected reliably but every so often the slide catch would activate.
Can't remember how accurate, but I had a mean muzzle blast (4.5" barrel)
I think that's why I sold it.
Kind of wish I hadn't.
Thanks Ascot...I'm not real excited about it but who knows...I've bought worse guns for dumber reasons...I'm still haunted by a 22mag derringer I once "just couldnt live without"....
I dont know how reliable the Amt 22 mag is . But the Amt backups imo were some of the most unreliable guns i've shot. Both the 22lr and 380 were jam machines . Just my opion but i think Amt makes horrible handguns .
Thanks for the input...for $100 more I can (and will) get a second 642 and have a New York reload...and play Laura Croft in black and white...thanks again.
I had one a lonnnnnnnnnng time ago. Never gave me any grief. Sometimes I miss it, but not enought to replace it at current prices. It was a fun little noise maker. Can't really think of any other use for it.
I have one. Had to have a gunsmith friend work it over to get it reliable. They're fun guns, loud, big muzzle flash. Gets lots of looks and 'What is that?' questions at the range. Winchester and CCI seems to work well in mine. $250 is a decent price, depending on 'which' version of AMT made it.
