I'm considering adding a shooter M1 Carbine to my modest collection. It will probably be shot 500 to 1,000 rounds per year.
Anybody familiar with the new manufacture AO M1 Carbines? Are they well made, accurate and worth the asking price?
Anyone OWN one?

Thanks,
Poper

I own one and it works well. It has an occasional FTF (very occasional and no more frequently than a friends WWII Inland). The fit and finish are fine, accuracy is as good or better than I can shoot.

I bought one about a year ago. It was a jam-o-matic so I sent it back to the factory. They replaced the bolt and barrel. It works much better now, but I still haven't gotten through a session without at least one jam or stovepipe. It might be part magazines also, but I have one of the Israeli Arms too and it has the same problems, only worse. The Auto-Ordnance shoots pretty high for me, but the windage is just about dead on.

I would personally look into one of the CMP carbines. I would think they would be much more reliable.

not to dirft....

But how cool would it be if some one made a M1 carbine in .223.... or 10mm:rolleyes:

Ive had one for about 6 months and love it. Had a few mag related problems and gettin stovepipes but i just took the mag apart n put it back together and it solved that problem. Not sure exactly what the problem was. Good accuracy but im not a fan of the flip up sights. Im hoping to change them out for adjustable sights sometime this year. They are nice though.

The Ruger Mini's are more powerful also I have purchased one each in 223 Rem and 7.62X39 and they are twice as accurate as the the ones I use to have. Also no FTF's, FTE's.

Bought one last year. Yes, the rear flip sight is on backwards. Thought I had a lemon with several FTF and FTE, but then I switched from the cheap Wolf ammo to Remington FMJ and had no problems. I have always loved the look of the M1 Carbine. I know it's not a long range shooter but it's plenty effective out to 150 yards. Ammo prices are going up. Recently bought an Inland mixmaster to add to the collection for a little more than the AO cost. Supposedly, the new AOs are made to USGI specs and can use USGI parts.
Plus you get a warranty with a new rifle.

I was thinking about getting one for my wife in case of a SHTF emergency. About what will one run $$ wise?

Nice Rifle! Mine works!

I bought one about 3 weeks ago, and it works great. I have ordered an adjustable rear sight from Numrich, It is sweet and light. Functions perfectly with Wolf ammo for now. Gonna start reloading for it next.
