Shotgun News had a dealer ad for a 1927 A-1 with the 50rd drum and 30rd stick tor $1069, if you have a ffl to transfer it for you the price does not seem to bad.

I have two, both west hurley guns.

I paid a grand even for my first, a blued 1927 that came with three or four 30 round stick and a 50 round drum. At the time, drums were selling for about 500 bucks. The front grip is akward for me, and the drum gets in the way since I tend to tuck my arms in pretty close to my body when firing. The drum, well, sucks. Sure, its fun at the range, but it rattles, and it takes three hands to remove ot from the rifle. You can buy the third hand, but its easily lost (I have two floating around - but can only find one at a time, if I'm lucky). For the price of the drum, you can buy a buncha 30 round sticks, so IMO its not worth it unless you can find a deal on one. I use my drum for photos, and thats its.

The other is the parkerized 1927 commando model. This is the one I shoot the most often since it isnt as pretty.

While the sights are primitive, they work. The gun is heavy, but you actually get used to it after a while. They have never jammed on me, however one has a habit of jamming on a buddy of mine (and only him). I've fed numerous JHPs through them, most of which was the cheap UMC valuepacks from walmart. I mostly 230gr use ball, WWB runs well, but I prefer magtech (its a little hotter).

I've only handled two west hurley guns (mine) and I've handled two Karhs. Based on those two kahrs, I dont see myself getting one. One was a 1927 like mine, however it had a lot of play between the upper and lower, and it looked like it was cold-blued. The other, an M1, had the same fit and finish, however the safety was missing. I dont know how the hole going all the way through the lower got past the inspector, maybe it was the last one off the line, around five o'clock on friday afternoon.
