Sorry (Saftey) Prime Not Auto Prime with Wolf Primers? On Lee Turret

Just got Modern Reloading 2nd addition and it states that Auto Prime is only safe with CCI and Winchester primers.

I have 5k of wolf primers on the way, from PV.

Am I ok or not?

Hand Held Auto Prime

If you are speaking about the Lee Hand held unit, I have been using them for years (I wore out one) to load Federal large pistol primers for 45 ACP. I recently bought some Wolf primers (which seem to be just very slightly "harder" than Federals) and used the same auto prime for the Wolf.

Wolf primers "feel" like they are slightly larger in diameter than others and fit some well worn 45 cases "tight", but never a problem with ignition in the Auto Prime.

Wear safety glasses with any reloading system but I continue to use the Lee Auto Prime without incident.

Certainly shouldn't be an issue with the safety prime since it only feeds them and doesn't seat them.

The Issue with the Pro-1000 and or Loadmaster is if the primer goes in sideways and detonates while seating, you can have a mass detonation of the remaining primers because of proximity of the seating station to the resavoir. They sell an explosion sheild. According to what I read in some Lee materials, only Federal primers have supported mass detonation in thier tests, so they sell the shield in case you insist on using Federal primers or others they didn't test.
