AWB one year later Sarah Disappointed PRAVDA admits no effect

Meanwhile, John Massey, owner of Shooter's Supply in New Castle, is doing a brisk business -- in hunting equipment, not quasi-military rifles

Shooters Supply has about 10 guns in stock, counting handguns at any given time. They are covered in DUST because they have ridiculously high prices on the few guns they stock. They mainly sell Bows and arrows to bow hunters, the owner is into archery not shooting, good place to buy a bow have arrows made and get fitted.

The reporter could have checked with Millers done the road a mile, which is actually a gun store.

The woman is truly a fool. I sincerely hope she keeps talking!
I agree. The last thing we want is for Sarah Brady to go away, as she perfectly illustrates the foolish mindset of the anti-gunner.

Sarah Brady needs educating

"Now they're going to be immune, so that means Nellie bar the door," Brady said.

Mrs. Brady got that wrong. If she knew more or actually listened to what other people say she would realize that the expression is "Katie bar the door." It was first used in the U.S. around the year 1894. There's no "Nellie bar the door." It's a small detail but revealing.

Like so many people who think they have the right to set the rules for other peoples' lives, Mrs. Brady has painfully little knowlege and less ability to think. It's embarrassing to see her use her husband's tragedy as the way to make her place in the world.

Cause last time I checked, Bushmaster, Colt, DSA, and Rock River were about the level of Hi-Point quality wise. One thing about these media types is their ability to find one of our own to sell us out. You read this and you think that these weapons were your typical zync cheapos.
Don't be too hard on him, he may have been asked about AK variants and SKSs specifically.
That's pretty much what most citizens think of when they here assault weapon

Brady

I have always been under the impression that the
Bradys (Jim and Sarah) were brought on as spokespeople
for the original Handgun Control Inc. and that HCI simply
changed names to Brady Center Etc.
And did not Coalition to Ban Handguns change names
to Violence Policy Center?
I get the impression these anti groups change their
names every time their polls show they have destroyed
their own credibility.
I'll bet before long HCI/Brady Center will change its
name once again, like to IANSA-USA.

The type revolver that John used on Jim was not even on the list of banned guns. Either she did not have a clue, or she did not want it to be obvious about how stupid the law was!

I think a very good case can be made that the Bradys want more Columbine school shootings, Kileen, Texas murder sprees, and Stockton Schoolyard rampages. I personally believe they hope they happen. They don't want the killings to stop, because they would no longer have any wind in their sails. Every time a group of innocents is butchered, the PTB at HCI get in an excited froth because they can parade in front of a news camera wailing and moaning about 'handgun violence'.

They are a sick, pathetic bunch of people.

I can see it now - Carolyn McCarthy introduces legislation to ban the sky...tee hee. Hey dontchyall think you're being a wee bit too hard on the poor, cancer-stricken ol' Sarah? Nah, me neither! I'll bet they've got a box of champagne bottles saved for a rainy day over there at HCI headquarters - to only pop open to celebrate 10+ death MPSs (mass public shootings).

Brady also fears that the expected congressional approval of legislation to shield firearm manufacturers and dealers from many lawsuits will prompt gun makers to unleash a new wave of increasingly deadly products.
What she hasn't figured out yet: the biggest motivation for gun makers to unleash new waves of increasingly deadly products IS HER GUN BANS!!! :cuss:

Ban Saturday Night Specials? Increased market in higher-quality guns that actually work reliably.
Ban no-background-check purchases? Increased pre-emptive purchases.
Ban >10-round magazines? Increased sales of existing "high-cap" magazines; increased sales of large-caliber guns; increased sales of sub-compact handguns.
Ban assault weapons? Increased sales of functionally identical "loophole" weapons.
Ban assault pistols? Increased sales of <50oz functionally identical "loophole" pistols.
Ban .50 caliber? Increased sales of .50BMGs before the ban; increased sales of .338 Lapua and other more effective smaller caliber rifles.

Sheesh. Brady & Feinstein alone have done more to advance the proliferation of small arms in this country than any other group.

Been saying the same thing for years. Personally I think the 1994 AWB did more for the AR15 and the cottage industry that has grown up around it then just about anything else.

I think you are right. A large part of the appeal in wanting an evil black guns is that the government doesn't want you to have them.

Ever get the feeling that she is motivated by something other than saftey and that facts are not really that important to her.

cslinger, I know that you know that there was no 'AWB' in 94 as you described it. :) There was in fact an 'HDRB and SCMB, erroneously mislabeled the AWB' - by shortening that phrase to 'AWB', you play into the hands of the antis - please let's not give them the satisfaction of using their bogus terms. We should spell it out every time - the homeland defense rifle and standard capacity magazine ban of 1994, erroneously mislabeled by the gun banners as the AWB. (geez I hate that bogus term).

"Thank goodness we haven't seen any huge increase [in meteors smashing into the planet's orphanages]. That doesn't mean there isn't one around the corner,"

Fixed that for her.

A different spin on the same thing that a couple of others have already picked on ;)

I can actually imagine those people getting all excited and coming into the Brady office early the day after a school or mall shooting, all excited about the prospects of having a purpose for the next few weeks for their jobs and the fund raising opportunities it presents them with
I'm absolutely certain that there is a lot of excitement around the office whenver there's a spectacular shooting. The media starts calling them up, they get quoted all over the place (free PR!), some congressmen get to introduce some feel-good un-Constitutional bills, and they're all happy. I'm sure they don't literally break out the champagne or anything, but they are in their heads!

On another note, gee, it's wonderful to hear Sarah saying basically, "Well, we threw away the Democrat majority in the House and Senate over a bill which didn't do a thing!"

Gun control really is an albatross around the necks of the Dems. If they would let it go they might have a chance at returning to power even.

Given the history of the issue, how long do you believe it will take before many people trust the dems again? Can you imagine waking up some morning with Diane Feinstein as AG? :what:

equate

Sarah Brady "Assault Weapon Ban" = Carrie Nation "Down With Demon Rum" =
Harry Anslinger "Reefer Madness" = Fredrick Wertham "Seduction of the
Innocents" (comic books cause juvenile delinquency) = Edward D. Wood "The
Sinister Urge" (girlie magazines cause sex crime) = ad nauseam.

We should be flattered that so many people want to save us from
things that cause bad behavior. Yes, bad behavior is caused by
things that can be banned. Ban the right scapegoat we will have Utopia.

Nellie?

Sarah Brady responded to the end to the frivilous anti-gun
lawsuits with "Nellie Bar the Door!"
Since 1894 the phrase "Katy Bar the Door!" has been popular
slang for "Watch out!" through out the Southland, apparently
based on a popular 1881 poem.
We have a Nellie who is a liberal columnist in our local
newspaper. One spring she rhapsodised about putting out
sunflower seeds to enjoy the red breasted robins flocking
to her bird feeders. When people wrote in to the paper
to say that robins don't like sunflower seeds, Nellie's
supporters wrote in to say, you go girl and ignore those
critics from the vast right wing conspiracy: we put out
sunflower seeds for our red breasted friends too.
I checked it out: if you want to attract robins to
your bird feeder, you put out dried fruit or mealworms.
Red breasted robins are attracted by worms and fruit.
Red breasted nuthatchs are attracted by sunflower seeds.
So Nellie and her liberal cadre are attracting
nuthatchs. Maybe Sarah was thinking of Nellie.
Hitler had a way of screwing up popular sayings in
his writings too: "I was a thorn in the eye of the
authorities."
These people believe their ideology gives them the
right to lord it over the rest of us, when they ignore
simple facts, much less complex opinions.

God just needs to take that poor, demented fool out of her misery...

And I agree with the poster above who stated that the Brady Campaign wants more killing sprees to happen; since this will in some way prove them right :uhoh:

And they call us extremists...
