Moderators please bear with me on this one. I was reading through the entire text of the bill and kick me in the nuts if I'm wrong on this but :

`(G) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

Fixed magazine is defined below

`(39) Fixed Magazine- The term `fixed magazine' means an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm.

Doesn't this mean every last semi-automatic pistol is banned? :uhoh:
The language in the definition of "fixed magazine" uses "or" meaning that as long as the ammunition feeding device is contined in the firearm and can hold >10rnds it's banned?

That bans almsot every glock, beretta, sig, cz, ... the list goes on ... and on... and on

I guess "contained in" is the term in question. Whether that means a detachable magazine that inserts inside a pistol, like nearly every pistol out there, I am un sure. But you can bet the antis will try to twist it that way.

No, most pistol magazines are "detachable" in congress speak. Fixed would be like a Garand or bolt action rifle.

Fixed magazine would be something like a little Beretta .32 cal. I don't think the mag comes out of that.

I don't see many pistols with fixed magazines - unless you consider a revolver a semi-auto pistol?

Usually fixed magazines involve rifles, like a Marlin Model 60 with the tubular magazine.

Well, it goes bang once for every time you pull the trigger with no other action required, so technically I suppose you could say it is.

But at that, you have precious few 11+ round revolvers, so it is probably a moot point in any case.

This is where the semiauto handguns are addressed -

`(F) A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine, and has--

`(i) a second pistol grip;

`(ii) a threaded barrel; Like used by competitors to reduce recoil and muzzle flip

`(iii) a barrel shroud; or

`(iv) the capacity to accept a detachable magazine at a location outside of the pistol grip.

The fixed mag issue is directed at Bolos and other similar antequated designs as well as the Cali versions of the AK and AR and SU16 pistols that have their magazines fixed to the receiver.

Broomhandle Mausers? :)

`(F) A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine, and has--

`(i) a second pistol grip; Wouldn't that be an AOW anyway?

`(ii) a threaded barrel; Like used by competitors to reduce recoil and muzzle flip- Yes we can't have people using these things for sporting purposes...I mean military...no sporting...wait I changed my mind again :barf:
I wonder if they meant compensated/ported barrels or if they are trying to dupe the public again into thinking threaded barrels do anything besides create an attachment point for a suppressor or flash hider.
