A couple weeks ago I posted a photo of a friend's 223 collection. Well, I was over at his place again, and tonight was 308 night. Thought I'd take some more photos for y'all (my own jealousy is best treated by spreading it around :) ).

Again, bonus points to anyone who can identify everything, particularly the specific FAL variants. Everything is in .308, with one exception (but it's a really sweet exception).

First, M1 derived designs:

Next, the Germanic stuff:

And some AK related pieces:

And before we get to the FALs, here are a few bits that didn't fit with much else:

Now, the right arm of the free world:

And the bicep-building arm of the free world:

Just for a hint, if you're trying to ID something in particular and can't decide if it's a cheap version or a real thing, go with the real thing (no full auto here, though). :)

Nolo, it's a replica, but a fully functional (semiauto) replica. Built from original blueprints, I believe.

Golden Hound, it's not just an AMT, but a minty unfired AMT. Both he and I are afraid to shoot it. :p

Yeah, I don't think there are any originals still left.
Nice collection.
I'm just waiting for the rare WWII Stinger that survived into Vietnam to get rechambered in 7.62 NATO. ;)

From the top:

Beretta BM59
M1 Garand
M1A
M1A

I don't remember the model but it was a late WWII 'Volkssturm' project IIRC
Spanish CETME
HK G3

Valmet M82
Norinco NDM-86
Galil ARM
Galil ARM

SIG AMT
FN49
MAS49/56

I'm not very versed on FAL's, but I do see a nice T48 and C2 in the secpnd pic

Pretty close, joey. Specifically, the first shot is a BM59, a Navy .308 M1, an M21 without optics, and an M1A.

Is that the FN-49 that was adapted to .308 and detachable mags? Nice.

And yeah. Sig AMT? Sweeet.

I admit that I would fire it, though. You should probably never invite me over. Ain't skeerd a shootin it. :D

I also like this quote:

As in, after having thoroughly amazed you with what I have already, and before we get to the FALs, plural, and in such quantity that they merit their own post and picture, here are a few ridiculously rare and expensive oddballs:

Yup, it's an Argentine FN-49. There was a batch of them imported a few years ago.

Yeah, pretty much. :p

What does kinda surprise me is that nobody has commented on the glaring lack of any AR variant. As it happens, he used to have an original Armalite AR-10, but sold it a while back.

We were sort of awestruck.

But since you mention it, there's no SIG 542 either, and no .308 enfield.

Ok, ok, so there's no Stinger. But those weren't in .308 anyway!

The 1919 we left in the gun room along with its belt-fed companions. We'll have LMG night at some point, and I'll post photos of all those (though the semi M240 won't be arriving for several months).

The .308 Enfields (an L42 sniper and a bunch of 2As) were also left in the gun room - we stuck with just semiautos for the photos.

No excuse for the lack of a 542. :(

Edit - Not even any attempts to ID the FAL variants? THR is disappointing me... :scrutiny:

But if one was, it'd be the Holy Grail of all .308s...
:neener:
I'm just razzin' ya'. Real nice collection you got there.
Can't I have just one of the FALs? ;)
Let's see, FALs:
Belgian polymer version.
Israeli FAL.
Some sort of T48 variant, though I seem to remember there was another FAL version with stripper clip guides...
Austrian StG. 58 (Gewehr 1, maybe? Did the StG. 58 come in wood?)
British or Aussie L1A1, I can't see any cuts, but the photo is also low-res...
What appears to be another StG. 58, this time in plastic.
Canadian C2 SAW, with 30-round mag and scope.
Izzy FAL SAW, with the mag that should be on the C2.
And I really don't know about the last one, if I had to guess I'd say a custom job. Either that or South American.

Not bad, Nolo. From left to right, they are:

English L1A1
Israeli
Canadian C1
Austrian Stg58
Australian L1A1
German G1

And the heavies are (top to bottom):

Canadian L2A1
Israeli HB
Belgian FALO

Neither am I - I had to write them down after I took the photo.
