Check out my buddies business. He restores old and new axes, makes knives, custom axe handles all hand made from blanks of wood like Osage and even throws in some bushcraft skills. I'm going to order a small axe like the one in the video along with one of his knives for my camping trips.

Beaver Creek Woodcraft on Instagram and Facebook.

Thanks.

He's correct, a 3/4 tang small knife is just fine if you use it for what it is intended.
He’s pretty knowledgeable. That ax he is using came from a flea market and was a rust bucket. He sharpens them to razor sharp, gets blanks from a local mill and carves the handles and wedges them. I beat the snot out of one of his axes one summer and it never came loose. That little knife he is using was either made by him or he purchased the blade and put a handle on it.
