I am considering purchasing a Browning semi-auto in 270WSM. I know little about the rifle and would appreciate the wisdom of those on this site.
Specifically: Is it reliable or is it prone to malfunction. It will be used for deer hunting and perhaps coyote assination.
Thanks, dmp

Pretty decent overall rifle for a factory set up. With the boss system attached they are quite acurate.

I've wanted one in 300 Winchester mag, [243 would be excellent also] looked at one thursday in 7mm mag for 559.00$ at a dealer around where i live. It would be an great deer rifle IMHO.

Try www.browning.com for more info.

Don...I shoot a BAR 7, great rifle, zero problems, and right on, when I do my part, shop around for the mags carefully, some want as much for the mags as the rifle...but I know a place.... Arc-Lite

Thanks for the info. I went to their site and have two more questions is the boss system worth the price. I may be wrong but is it not only an option on the safari grade rifle? Thanks again

the BOSS system allows you to fine tune the harmonics of the barrel, which seams to work quite well. if you like the 270, step up to the 7mm, spend some time looking at the down range performance. Arc-Lite

The BOSS comes only on the Safari model. The 270 WSM is chambered in that rifle, and also in the new Short Trac and the Stalker. I have a Stalker in .308 and call me very pleased. No malfunctions in this great carbine. I haven't heard a lot about the new Short (or Long) Tracs.

I have a Safari with Boss in 300 WSM, great gun, always reliable and accurate. if I were going to buy another today, I would choose it in 30-06. The ammo is cheaper, easily found and today, you can get '06 ammo that will perform about anything you need. The WSM's pack a pretty good wallop too, it's not my favorite cartridge for the range.
