Just returned from the range with my brand new Ruger SP101 2.25" .357 snubbie and it was a pleasure to shoot. It has the Crimson Trace grips, but I was mainly shooting with the iron sights. First used Federal .38 sp 130 gr hardball, then Fiocci 142 gr .357 Magnum hardball. Shot 100 rounds of .38 sp, 50 rounds .357 Mag.

My hand doesn't hurt, there was no discomfort during shooting, the accuracy was excellent, 5-7" groups at 7 meters, and the stock trigger felt fine, although different than my S&W's. The SP101 trigger stacked (predictably) then broke cleanly, as opposed to the S&W's with a more uniform pull throughout its travel.

Makes me want to get one, but with a Speed-Six and Security-Six (both snubs, the former w/a 3-inch barrel), I can't justify it. Either pistol fits in my side pocket and I just don't think the SP-101 would offer anything I don't already have. Still, it beats S&W's Model 60 and ultra-light revolvers that are more gimmacks. (S&Ws decision to make them, and the 500, has been more trouble than they're worth, and shooting them actually injures people.)

Anyway, I may still get a Ruger SP-101 one of these days. The other thing I've heard is that the action is tight and the trigger pull heavy.

I've had 2 SP101's, great handgun but I like my S&W 638 better for one reason. It is light enough I don't leave home without it. I shoot it a lot with fairly hot loads(125hp's) and it doesn't bother me a bit. We all need a choice and I made mine, for woods walkin the Ruger wins but for just goin out and about the 638 goes.

Just took mine for it it's first spin (under my ownership). CT's are low a few inches, but I pretty much just shot it irons. Trying more and more to get better with my revolvers and I think this one is going to definitely help with that! I tried shooting wad cutters out of it and you could barely notice a thing!
