I've heard some of the guys on the forum say they carry in the back pocket. How's that work? Are you guys on your feet all day? I just can't imagine sitting on a gun being comfortable or good for the gun in long run. So, who actually back pocket carries and what do you do about sitting?

Thanks.

Edit to add : my title should read "back pocket carry" if a mod can correct that for me I'll be eternally grateful :)

I have a kahr cm9 that I'll carry in my back pocket from time to time. I'll also carry my g26 in my back pocket from time to time if I have on cargo shorts. When they are carried in a back pocket they ride in an uncle mikes size 4. The back pocket carry for me is when I'm working around the house outside working in the yard or garden or on my unfinished fence.
I never carry in the back pocket while sitting ever. I have sat down and forgot about the gun being there and its uncomfortable.
Back pocket carry can be very useful at times at least for me. Sometimes if I have an apron on while grilling or my carpenters apron on while wood working, back pocket seems more convenient.

I'll drop mine in my back pocket for a quick jaunt outdoors if I don't feel like putting the holster on but that's it.

Kahr P380, DeSantis Nemesis in back pocket most every day during warm weather. No problem sitting.

I carry my 2.25 sp101 in my back pocket on short hikes/walks....couldn't imagine sitting on it? :uhoh:

I have a JA-22 I pocket carry. The little gun fits in any of my clothes. Sitting on it is not an issue. My pocket holster make sitting on it about as comfortable as a tri-fold wallet.

I moved my wallet to a front pocket and carry a PF-9 in the back where my wallet used to go. No more uncomfortable than a thick wallet.

I haven't carried anything in a back pocket for at least the past 50 years.
My wallet is always in my left front pocket, pistol on right side (front pocket, IWB, or OWB).

Sig P238 in a pocket holster fits in back pocket nicely. Back pocket is good if you're walking around or standing on your feet most of the time. I don't suggest for driving or sitting long periods. Also if you're sitting it's a harder to draw from. There are some drawing tactics on youtube with regards to pocket holsters you might want to check out; I like the one from Talon Tactical Training.

I carry a P3AT in a pocket holster behind my wallet.

I thought lost it in the house once and spent a half hour looking for it upstairs & down.

It was riding in my hip pocket during the whole search!

Back pockets of most pants are simply not sufficiently secure to carry anything valuable for an extended period of time, in my opinion. I think of guns as valuable!

Then, there is comfort while seated; I don't like sitting on a wallet, much less a firearm.

To me, a back pocket, in general, is like a third hand; a place to temporarily hold something while my hands are otherwise occupied. There are exceptions, such as zippered or snap-secured back pockets, which I may use to hold very small valuable items. Very small.....

I know a guy who carries an LCP in his back pocket in a holster designed for it(back pocket). He carries his wallet in a front pocket. He said if anyone ever mugs him he'll act like he's reaching for the wallet but he'll give them something else.

Hmmmmm?

Maybe thats why I have never lost my wallet out of my hip pocket in the close to 60 years I have been old enough to carry a wallet?

I better watch out!
My time must be coming.

I'm with you on that RC I carry my wallet in my back pocket all the time even riding horses. As for a gun I carry in my back pocket sometimes when hiking and I dont have a belt on. Most of the time if I carry one in my pocket it is in my front pocket like with a kel Tec 380 with the pocket clip.

I carried a LCP in my back pocket with a wallet holster for 3 years. Never an issue. I use Dockers. Jeans may be a bit more difficult. Dockers have a pocket that is not part of the outside pants. When you sit, the internal pocket rides up so you aren't really sitting on the gun. Jeans have smaller pockets as well. I've carried a wallet back there for 40+ years and never lost it or had an issue. When I switched to the LCP it felt the same as always. Always forgot it was there. It is hard to draw while seated or driving but most holsters are. You have to practice and get used to it like any other holster or method of carry.

I carry right hip-pocket in jeans most of the time, and have since I got a Kel-Tec P3AT 7 years ago.

I slipped on the ice and fell so hard three winters ago, it left a P3AT shaped bruse on my right butt cheek!

Didn't hurt the gun at all.

Ain't no way just setting on it in a chair is going to hurt a thing if it don't hurt you.

I can't speak from personal experience but where I work we have a customer who comes in regularly and he usually carries a Kel-Tec .380 in the right back pocket without a holster. He obviously sits on it a lot because he has one pair of jeans with a perfect outline of the gun worn into the material. Sort of like a skoal ring but shaped much differently. That's printing in bold and upper case! So it must not bother him.

A PM40 is in the back pocket of my Levi's every day.

It gets move to my front pocket when I'm sitting.

After reading this post, I went fishing today and decided to carry my PF-9 in it's pocket holster in my Back Pocket. Actually like it there.

The only reason I never carried there was because a close friend and Deputy Sheriff, when off duty, always carried an AMT 380 backup in his back pocket with a handkerchief so it wouldn't print. He and his wife were both killed by a neighbor who went loco with a shotgun while they were crossing the yard.

He may have never seen it coming, I don't know. It may have been one of those times when nothing would be better. But I've been leery every since then. But I did it today, just to break my jinx.

I gotta say a AMT 380 backup in your own yard, against a crazy neighbor with a shotgun was bound to end bad, no matter where he carried it.

Even if he carried it in his hand in his yard all the time.

I don't understand what the back-pocket carry had to do with making this situation worse. Please explain.
