I found out that Les Baer uses 18.5 pound recoil spring with a 21 pound mainspring. How does that compare with the 'normal' 16/23 setup? Seems like two up on one and two down on the other. Does the lighter mainspring give a lighter trigger pull? Does the combination act about the same as the normal setup, ie. the heavier recoil spring may slow the slide rearward more than the normal 16 pounder, while the lighter mainspring would allow slightly faster rearward movement than the standard 23 pound spring, and this combination may wind up with about the same rate as the standard setup?
This may all seem esoteric, but why change what JMB designed the gun to run with?
