Is one bag rest the same as all the others? Does anyone like a particular manufacturer for durability and use?

I've got a couple cheap front and rear sets from the Amazon. I think they was 10 dollars or so for 2 piece set. I filled them with poly beads like some stuffed animals have in them. And they have been holding up great after several years of regular use. I like the plastic beads cause they don't dust up like sand or cat liter and few other options. Plus they want hold extra moisture with the beads.

This rear bag has seen many years and many rounds. Bought it about 40 years ago. I think I bought it from Sinclair International. Still see no need to buy anything better to replace it.

I have been using one of those Bulls Bags for years. One single bag filled with whatever you choose to fill it.

The Protektor above is my favorite due to its durability and weight -- it stays firm and holds its shape better than the pellet or gravel-filled bags.

I had a set made of the coarse nylon and filled with sharp gravel. They started to fray after a few years of only occasional use. The fraying is why I went with the leather the next time around. Cotton bags like the bank bags described above would work well too. I used to see cotton canvas shot bags filled with sand at the public range and they seemed to hold up.

For years I've cut off legs from old bibs. Sew shut one end. Stuff in small plastic trash bag. Fill 2/3 with sand ,rubber mulch, soy beans ECT. Zip tie bag with air squeezed out. Sew other end. If they get wet it's only the denim.

I have 3 different front rest, all with Protektor bags on them. And I use Protektor page in the rear. I have had the original orange Hoppes rest for years, a mid priced Sinclair rest and an expensive custom made rest like the Benchrest guys use. I find myself using the Sinclair rest the most often.

Shot bags and dry sand work for me. I top them off with a "dog bone" bag. I usually take the dog bone hunting, they weigh next to nothing.

I use the Caldwell combo front and rear bags. Works with everything I have from old BP rifles to modern.

It's been regulated to back-up now that I have the BE rest.

Yup..... the ole Lyman orange rest. You dont see them very often. Ive had mine over 40 yrs, and still use it, I did mod it with some taller legs tho. I think it has the original bag on it still.
I also have a few different Caldwell bags that I use.
