baking Lacquer

anyone ever use it on a gun. i have a 1911 A1 i'd like to refinish and although it sounds good i'm scared the finish will be dull and other than buffing it out, i'm not sure what else could be done to make the bright shine on it. and what should i be concerned about with quality in doing this refinish if any? also what if i have the gun bead blasted or what ever they can do to it to remove the pits and scratches other than buffing it. under the blue coating that is on it now, is there stainless steel ? or even a coating to make it look that way?

also what tool could i make to work on a mauser with a flat bottomed action? can't find an action wrench for it. any ideas? thanks....

I used some Brownell's baking laquer on a stainless Savage 93. That was about 10 years ago and it's still in awesome shape. I just sprayed it on and put it in the oven at about 350 for like two or three hours. Best stuff in the world. It's been 10 years, and the stuff hasn't chipped or scratched at all.

Only problem is....it is in flat black. You're not going to polish this stuff to anywhere near a shine.
