I thought I got mine cheap at 165.00! This is a very nice rest. Very nice indeed. Lots of adjustability.

It's showing $139.99 today - fantastic deal.

Considering it's then $30 cheaper than the Caldwell Rock BR, AND has less run out - especially considering that means the windage head is actually functional, instead of being nothing more than a marketing ploy which is useless in the field, it's a MUCH better product and much better deal than the Rock BR. My Eagle is nearly as tight and more easily adjusted with the remote windage control than my Sinclair rest, which cost twice as much. The Bald Eagle is the best value machine rest on the market. It's not quite as stable and not nearly as heavy as the Sinclair (by about half), but it's a great budget rest, far better than the more common Rock BR.

I have been spending money like a drunken sailor..........yet I ordered one of these.
A buddy of mine texted me about this (while I was at a range shooting). I ordered one right on my phone from the bench.

I have been threatening to buy a real front rest for 2 years. I am using some kind of Mickey Mouse bags that tip over........... what a PITA. Or, often a bipod.
I have been getting into shooting for serious accuracy for the last year or so, and I guess along with all the reloading stuff I have been doing, serious accuracy also comes from equipment other than ammo.

You will not regret the bald eagle. Now what about a rear bag? For reasonable, not cheap, but not crazy, I got the protektor 1 inch extra tall rabbit ear model.

Not quite tall enough for AR15...so I place it on top of a 15 lbs bag of black silica sand I bought off the protektor site...just leave it in the bag! I wish they made a pillow bag this size...

I hope you remembered to get the small front bag for the bald eagle.

Yeah, I got a front bag.
I have a decent rear bag. I don't remember what it is right now but it is one of those leather ones from Sinclair or some place like that.

Stop it guys! This hobby thing is eating my checkbook! Thank you RussellC for the heads-up and Varminterror for the vs Caldwell and especially vs Sinclair comparison. The Sinclair was on my winter list after whitetail season but I think I'm pulling the trigger on this one and retiring my old Hoppes.

There is a cast iron version, but I got the aluminum, its hard enough to lug around! Which leads me to this nice collapsible cart/wagon thing I use to pull all this crap around at the range....but that's another thread for another toy! Seriously, this deal is outrageous!

Russellc

I'm already contemplating the $199 long leg version that's out of stock...it's paralyzing! And now I want a wagon! I already HAVE a wagon the kids have outgrown! Must. New. Wagon. Stop!

After resisting for nearly 32 hours, you got me, too good of a value to pass up. Got the bag to go with it as well.

You have a lot more experience with this stuff than I, but I think it is a terrific piece, and beats my caldwell bags, no comparison.

I think I really need a different front bag for it, but I will wait until the new chassis is in hand.

Somewhere I read a review claiming the newer models manufactured in Taiwan will not fit the old front bag and that the larger models will not fit a Sinclair Speed Screw due to a different thread. That particular "reviewer" sent his back without using it and I believe the reply came from bullets.com (on a forum).

Here is my original one. I would tote this box to the firing line, set everything up on the bench and tuck the box under the bench until I finished. Put it all back in the box and leave it there for the next relay.

No doubt about it, no comparison. If you are serious, you need front rests like these, or other similar ones that serious target shooters use from the bench. The price can be as much as you want to spend. This is a great value at this price.

Shipping was fast.

It has no wiggle or slop when everything is tightened down, it's nice and stable, the adjustments are smooth, and it appears to be very well made. Jury is out on the windage adjustment until I actually use it at the range. Gotta fill the bag and attach it. I should get a chance to use it this weekend.

That is the same front bag I got. It came unfilled, so I got a 15 lbs bag of black silica heavy sand, from the protektor site I believe. It hardly took much to fill the small front bag. I wish protektor made a pillow in the size it is now. Its in a very heavy duty plastic bag, sealed with tape. Perfect to go under the protektor rear rabbit ear bag for AR rifles, which need a little more rear lift.

The windage adjustment isnt bad at all.

Stiffer/stronger than I expected, time will tell.
I figured the same thing. It moves at a fine adjustment speed, once set and you get into position, it may need a slight adjustment. Maybe I need to tighten that nut in the fine adjustment apparatus, but the rest part ( with front bag) sometimes shifts a small amout side to side when loosening the fine adjustment lock. Once tightened, if it did shift its easy enough to adjust with either the fine up and down, or the windage. If your bench is very solid, its not such a problem. I've noticed where I shoot a lot that the bench seems tight, but have noticed shots thrown off or target shift while looking through the scope when a large caliber rifle goes off next door. Benches are all hooked together. The more wobbly, the more problem, but that isnt the rests fault.

I have another range about 30 mins further that has individual cement benches, that are much more solid.

I may switch the adjustment to the left side and put the handle directly on the adjusting shaft, doing away with the linkage. I considered getting the rest without it entirely, but figured I could always mod it or remove it.

What front bag do you guys use I give up on my Caldwell setup just use Harris bipod shoot lot better. I wanted better front rest setup but not wanting to spend fortune right now till I see if I can shoot better to justify it. This one looks good seen before on sale but didn't know if it was legit. Like to have ideas on good front bag go with it. Have excellent rest bag already
Thanks

I use a front rest and rear bag. Not sure what you are asking. This front rest is much, much better than the Caldwell $75 front rest. I also have the Caldwell and it is adequate for most fun shooting.

Sorry I have Caldwell BR rest most expensive not repeatable at all have readjust every shot seems like. It has Protector front bag just not very happy with setup. I now shoot strictly off bipods have shoot very good groups just curious about this rest and what sandbag to use with it to make a good setup better what I have.
Thanks

Reputability has a lot to do with not only how the gun rides the rest and bag, but how consistent we are. The recoil needs to be straight back each and every time.

I use both front rests and bipods, although for me bipods are a fairly recent addition in comparison to how long I have used front rests.
