 Does anyone have the recipe for ballistic gelatin? This is the stuff you see pictures of after different types of rounds have been shot into it to demonstrate performance. I have seen it in the past in one of the gun magazines, a home grown version that you can make in your garage. I just can’t seem to find it. I did Google it and I got a lot of professional stuff but not the “do-it-yourself” variety.

This is for my kid’s science project so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

also if its jsut for fun wait till walgreens has a royal jello sale (5 for a dollar and I get my discount too lol) and stock up on it. Ballistics gel is basically a big slab of unflavored gelitan that is stiffer then the stuff you eat. So what the hell if its for fun or rough guestimation why not just use jello lol.

Before doing that, take a look at the link I posted. $32 for 5lbs of gelatin (250 bloom) will work for 45lbs of water, assuming you're trying to get close to the 1:9 ratio of lab stuff.

22oz of gelatin powder is $12 from the link I posted, and that's a lot less than you'd be paying for the boxed jello - it would also contain sugar, which you don't want.

sugar free goes on sale too :neener:

Like Isaid, if all you were doing was screwing around.

Personalyl I get the mental image of one of them freaky looking jello molds being shot and what it would do when shot and I get the near uncontrolable urge to giggle like a school girl.

I'm guessing that if you pm JE223, he could help you out with some tips and shortcuts.
