I am posting as a Republican who has considered voting for Barak Obama, UNTIL I Read his answers at www.ontheissues.org, and researched him online. Unfortunately, he is very anti-gun. I am not Hot on McCain, but all things being equal this will make me vote for McCain.

NOTE: In Ohio we have some good pro 2nd A. Democrats. Gov. Strickland, and several in congress, that I crossed party lines and voted for. Our previous republican gov. bob taft (All lower case, no respect due/owed) was the worst ever! Mere words can not express the suck of the bob taft administration.:cuss: One should spit on the ground and dose heavily with listerine for even speaking his name.

I am posting as a fence sitter, to influence other fence sitters because I feel this year will be very important for gun rights and a vote for Obama will put gun owners in a bad position.
1. Not being able to capitolize on the Heller decision (Get supporting legislation passed, to shore up any incomplete Supreme Court ruling.)
2. Getting a vauge S.C. decision and having a Democratic House, Senate, and President that get to fill in the blanks.
3. Court appointments that would change the balance of power back, and /or eventually undo any recent gains.

You're new, so you probably don't know yet, but - we don't do politics here anymore. If you'd like to post a political thread, please do so over at our sister forum Armed Polite Society (APS). There is a link to it on the top right of your screen.

Thanks.

From the Sticky created by Oleg at the top of this forum:

Political topics go into Activism Discussion forum -- provided they are accompanied by plans of action. Mere griping is no longer appropriate for THR. If you want to discuss an injustice or a political development, propose a remedy!

Is that bad here? :(

I would think the RTKBA is political by nature & voicing concern over those who do and dont support it would be natural.

If I am wrong. Then I would suggest I might need to start a forum that supports the 1st and 2nd. :D

Gun Guy - We used to have a Legal and Poilitical forum here, but it was changed to Legal only because the trend of political threads becoming flame-wars was getting ridiculous.

We have no problem with political threads, provided that they actually propose some course of action, and are able to be kept high-road. Usually, this isn't possible to maintain, so they either get locked, or moved to APS, or both.

Personally, I'm fine with that. I enjoy THR immensely, and admire the combined knowledge and skill of the folks who post here - but add politics to the mix, and those same people often become raving, crude, insulting cavemen who can't see past the party line. Me included. So for the sake of civility, and community, Oleg and the rest of the Admin/Mod staff deemed it necessary to put an end to it.

OF COURSE OBAMA IS ANTI GUN, HE IS FROM CHICAGO!!!
here is my rule as a resident from Illinois, NEVER VOTE FOR ANY POLITICIAN FROM ILLINOIS as they will most likely be from Chicago's insanely leftist machine. The politicians from there mess up my whole state, want to make it more like California....
(so you know I have nothing against liberals nor Democrats as I know they are not interchangeable. I simply do not agree with many of their ideologies including the majority of the leftists anti gun agenda. Saying that I am fully aware that not all of those who fall politically to the left are anti gun. I apologize in advance for generalizing)

Do you smell something?.....sniff, sniff, smells like a closed thread is nearing:rolleyes:

As much as we'd all love to rant about how much Obama stinks and Hillary for that matter it just gets pointless after awhile and is just more old news.

Politics used to be allowed on THR now its very restricted on what exactly can be discussed. Really this is a forum about firearms not politics, there are other forums for venting frustrations over political issues. Even though it may seem gun related the fact remains most political threads get out of hand and end badly. The moderators got tired of dealing with it and I really can't blame them.

Thread Close?

Really?

Why on earth would we want to close the thread?

Oh. Politics. Got it.

We don't have a problem with a thread that simply states or quotes what a politician's position is on gun control or gun ownership.

Beyond that, we don't splash around in the Democrat/Republican, Conservative/Liberal, my candidate vs your candidate sewer. It makes a mess and stinks up the place.

A moment of silence, please, for this thread whose time has run out.
