On a 45 cal Blackpowder & cap rifle, it has an oval with a PB in it on tha left side of the barrel. On the right side of the 25 1/4 in. barrel is the 4 digit serial num. and blackpowder onle Italy. I have searched and find nothing.
Anyone know what this gun is and where I might get parts?
Many thanks. felix

Beretta indeed made tons of black powder guns. They started in 1526 or so as a barrel maker if I recall correctly.

In 1980 they released an over/under percussion shotgun for their tricentennial.

I'd suggest contacting Beretta to make sure it IS a real product and not a knock off (esp if it's spelled with an A).

There is an explanation of where to find a date code listed HERE:

Understand that MANY black powder arms available in the US are made in Italy and "PB" could stand for anything, and be purposefully taking advantage of Beretta's reputation.

Thanks Dr. Robb for the relpy. I went to the Beretta site and it looks like my gun might be other than Beretta. The name Beretta is not on the gun, that was only someones guess. I still like it and it is a good feeling 45 cal rifle. Got stuff coming to repair the stripped nipple threads. I would still like to know who made the gun.
