I swear.

You know, the anti Left is a gutless bunch. Instead of arguing their points like men (If the ladies will excuse the term), they have to turn to propaganda -- like "bowling for lardface."

*raises hand* Can we just start the revolution now? :barf:

Too bad they won't have a vignette in the movie about a gun being used in self-defense/foiling a violent crime.:banghead:

*raises hand* Can we just start the revolution now? :barf:

That reminds me of a wonderful quotation by Claire Wolfe. "America is in that awkward stage, wherein it's too late to work within the system but too soon to start shooting the bastards." Truer words were never spoken.

The anti's strategy is blatantly obvious. While some still try desperately to abridge the Constitution by outlawing firearms, or seek to bankrupt the industry through litigation, most have resigned themselves to the task of making guns socially unfashionable so that in a generation or two they'll be about as in style as Model T Fords. In the absence of demand, supplies will soon dry up and then they will have acheived their objective.

It's not our nature to propagandize. We just want to be left alone. We tend to leave others alone.

It is the nature of statists and authoritarians to propagandize. They want to live in a nanny state. They want to meddle in everyone else's business (because they think they know better than you).

Maybe we need to start rethinking our methods before we only have only one option left.

I'd rather wait to see the movie before I make any accusations or form an opinion. Otherwise I'd be no better than the people who jump to conclusions based on misinformation that I disagree with.

BTW, I thought this movie sounded familiar, so I popped over to the IMDB and did a search. It turns out that 'American Gun' was released in 2002, starring James Coburn.

Same name, different plot, same goal

So is this just old news, or is Hollywood so completely out of ideas that they are remaking movies released two years ago?
Well, there have been a lot of movies in recent years based on 1970's Saturday morning kids shows.

I'm waiting for Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst to play Will and Holly in Land of the Lost. Kevin Spacey can play the dad.

Hey! I grew up on Land of the Lost! That was a cool show. The original version, anyway. A goodly part of the behind the scenes creativity came from several of the deep thinkers behind the original Star Trek series, DC Fontana, David Gerrold and others. Of course we already saw what happened when HollyWeird "updated" that one. What did they do to the Sleestacks???!?!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled firearms discussion...

This is just another in a long line of anti-gun movies.

Every single story is about the negative aspects of firearms in society. A young college student is "seduced by the products around her" in a gun shop (yes, guns are cool, but people control the guns, not the other way around :) ), a school shooter, and inner city gangs.

Of course, you always have to blame the gun for violence...:barf:

What about someone using a gun to scare off a rapist? Or an underdog rifle shooting team winning a championship? Or just a bunch of guys shooting clays?

I admit, there may be a natural bias - violence and conflict is simply more sensational than guns being employed in self-defense, responsible use, and (God forbid!) fun.

Dittoes to what Mr. Bowman said.

As with many things, the late, lamented Sci-Fi author extraordinaire and Neo-Pessimist philosopher Robert A. Heinlein perhaps said it best:

"The fact is that political tags such as Royalist, Communist, Democrat, Republican, Populist, Fascist, Liberal, Conservative, and so forth are never basic criteria.

The human race divides itself politically into two basic groups: those who want people to be controlled, and those who have no such desire.

The former are, they will tell you, 'Idealists', acting from the highest motives for the greatest good [as They define it] of the greatest number.

The latter tend to be surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are much more comfortable neighbors than the other sort."

making your own movie is easy,5 million$.

getting it distributed, 1.5million$,funding an ad campaign,2million$,countering the liberal propaganda assault machine if you get the other two-priceless!
