Barnes 195 Gr. 7mm?

I found some of these Barnes 195 grain 7mm "original" bullets. The stats on them are amazing. .345 SD and .570 BC! They're basically crossbow bolts.

Anyone used these before? I'm hoping to load them in a 7x57 at fairly low velocity (2,300 fps or so).

Cosmo, where did you find them? And is there any more? I was looking for them a while back, and also for 250 gr. Barnes Originals in .308, for my 300 Win Mag.

I found them in a very unlikely place--a small gun shop in Wasilla, Alaska. I think you can order them on line directly from Barnes, but I've never tried it. I haven't seen them at Midway or the usual places before. They'd be awesome for a 7mm Mag. Plenty good enough for brown bear with that level of power behind them. I'm probably going to use them for moose and black bear with my 7x57.

The twist on most 7x57's is set up for 175's so the longer 195's should be ok if loaded warm. I havent loaded loaded for 7x57 alot but I did get 2550 fps with 175 Noslers in my 23 inch Mod 98 using 4064 powder. I think 2300fps should be realistic and that is just right for fantastic penetration . IMHO , having hunted Ak regularly, it would do for anything with proper hit.Of course you would be limited to under 200yds but that shouldnt be an issue to a local hunter. Good luck. Ps: just use 175 grain data reduced by 15% and work up batchs of 3 rounds going up a grain. Shouldnt take more than 15-20 shots to know where to stop, and if you shoot at 100yds you could be sighted in too.
