Hey, I'm a new guy here. Got a quick question.
I have a 20ga Ithica 37. It's a old quail gun, light and reliable.
I screwed it up hunting down in TX. Had some bad reloads (from my brother) and fired off a shot with something still in the barrel from the previous shot.
I know, I'm lucky I did not get hurt, or worse..
Now I'm trying to find a 20 ga barrel. It's sort of a brown color (as far as bluing is concerned) like to find one that matches..
ANyone know where to even start looking??
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi there new guy! Hold onto your checkbook, they aren't cheap when you can find them. If that bulge from the squib load is more than 18" from the breech, cut off the barrel, crown it, put on another bead and you have a handy HD setup.

Replacing barrels on a Ithaca 37 can be a problem. On the pre 1963 models the barrels were custom fit and cannot be swapped out like on a Remington or Mossberg. Above serial number 855,000 the barrels are interchangeable.

I'll check the serial # and re-post.
Thanks for the sites.
I did take it to a gunsmith and get it cut off and add a bead. I'm not sure how long the barrel is now..

From Ithaca:

The thread pattern that we utilize on our interchangeable barrel field guns is the same pattern that was used by Ithaca in New York after 1963. However, Ithaca in New York used manufacturing methods that created differences between their firearms that made their barrels less than truly interchangeable. So, while some of our barrels may fit post-1963 guns off the shelf, others will require at least minor modifications to fit correctly. You must send your gun to us for the barrel head spacing to be checked and tested. There is no additional charge for this service.

Really seems like the best bet if you have a 63 or later.
