Barrel gap adjustment

Let me answer that one, a normal remmie cylinder pin is straight with no tapered or reduced dimensions. What Mike has done is create a channel by cutting a taper and reducing the diameter of the pin to give any fouling a place to go without binding the cylinder in the process. Take a look at the cylinder pin from a Ruger Old Army, same idea, Mike has improved on it a bit and made it work for the Remington. And yes the smaller barrel to cylinder gap means more powder and resulting fouling goes down the barrel rather than all over the front of the cylinder and every little recess it can get into. Hope this helps

Yes that's true, except Mike said that he doesn't alter the gap on Remingtons.
His system only tries to manage the fouling.

That's very true, one needs to set the barrel back, a somewhat tricky process without the proper tooling and equipment. One can easily damage the frame on a remmie if you're not careful. Did one on a carbine years ago, sweated bullets the whole time.

PWC Yes a washer can be made. I have made one out of .010 thick steel. It has a cutout for the hand to move in and a notch for the hammer. I fear that my first attempt needs some improvement.Too crudely made. ,so I'm going to shoot it as is to begin with. I haven't had a 44 remmy for 45 years. This is my first brass anything.

They don't have anything that will work. Now a 1" disk with a .272 dia hole in the center ..010 to .015 thick and I'm in. If I could get hard shim in that size, now that would be nice..Hard to work with but would last forever. I did get out and shot the Richland Arms brass 1858 on Tuesday. It shot ok. That .015 gap spit badly. .451 balls almost were hand push in . I need .454 to be serious . I did grease the pin with white grease .No cylinder drag at 18 shots. 5" groups at 25yards.
Not bad first time out
