does anyone know of a chart that has the difference in muzzle velocities and muzzle energy in relation to the standard 20" AR-15 and 16" barrels for different bullet weights?:banghead:

There is some info on 6mmbr dot com, they may not have the info you are requesting but it may be a great start to what you ar looking for.

I've chrono'd a lot of factory 223 loads from my 16" AR and a few from my friends 20". We were seeing 150-200fps difference. Somewhat more than I had expected. Any round in particular you were interested in?

S&W M&P AR15, measurements taken at 10' from muzzle, 900' elevation.

Federal 55gr FMJ BP223BL (walmart), 80 deg., 2980 fps
Fed 55gr FMJ XM193F, brown box, 57 deg, 3141 fps
Fed American Eagle 55gr FMJ, 94 deg, 3158 fps
Wolf 55gr FMj, 80 deg, 2882 fps
Win 55gr FMj, white Box Q3131, 80 deg, 3096 fps
PMC Bronze, 84 deg, 2760 fps
Fiocchi 55gr FMJ, 84 deg, 2826 fps
Fiochhi 55gr SP, 84 deg, 2834 fps

SS-109 ammo:
Prvi Partizan, 84 deg, 2990 fps
American tactical Imports, 84 deg, 2990 fps
Lithuanian Military, 84 deg, 2997 fps

Other 62 gr:
Fiocchi 62gr FMJ BT, 84 deg, 2653 fps
Silver Bear JSP, 94 deg, 2903 fps

I didn't record the 20" data as it was my friend shooting his rifle. But, for the most part, around 150-200 fps faster.

Happy shooting.

I've shot the same loads in 3 16" barrels, 2 20" barrels, 4 24" barrels, and a 27.5" barrel (all ARs and mostly different makers). With 50 gr bullets, there is about 175-200 fps gain per 4" over the same chronograph.
I don't have my records with me here, but that is from memory. The chambers for the 24" barrels were .223 (not 5.56) so that might make a difference, as well as the fact that barrels of the same length vary in muzzle velocity.
I would guess bullets of a different weight would show some different spreads.
Oh, the 27.5" was a single shot at the time and showed signs of high pressure with loads that were okay when it was cut back to 25.5" then to 24".

I've never seen PMC rate quite that slow. I know a lot of people claim its a tad underpowered, but that is way under 3000.
