13rnd. nickel wooden handle. any Barretta finnatic's as far as this 380 model? I used to have a older similar one I would like to have another! I've searched found and will be some $$$! I Don't care for the lower cal. as I reload but I want to,reload some380. what 380 do you like now aday's? Besides a Ruger?

SIG P-232 is my all time favorite so far.

No, it's not a double-stack high-cap.
But I don't need half a box of ammo in a bigger gun in my hip pocket.

Just picked up a new Walther PK380 so will let you know after the range trip tomorrow. My 2 Bersa .380's have been very reliable, and the Browning 1971's, although they older Brownings don't really like HP ammo much.

I am a huge fan if the Beretta 84. I am also a huge fan if proper grammar and sentence structure.

The Beretta 84 is the finest 380 made in my opinion. Picked mine up for 400.00 in the box with 2 mags. With a low powered round like 380acp I like having more rounds in the mag.

My wife loves hers. She went through the two day S&W practical shooting course with and ruffled a few feathers. The instructors had to admit it was a fine weapon at the end.

I'm attracted to these...

... in particular the Berettas, the Sig and the Sphinx. In addition, on my wish list is the Daewoo DH380, a PP clone and perhaps the Walther PK380. My brother has one and really likes it.

I've had a bunch of .380's over the last 30+ years, and the only ones I bought more than one time (Had to sell most of them due to cash flow, but some were just plain bad) were the Beretta 84 and it's closed slide cousin, the Browning BDA380. I liked the Astra A-60, Sig 232, and the PPK I had, but none of them nearly as much as the Beretta made guns. The awful ones were just junk, such as the Erma PPK clone that was a total loser. You can find decent used 84s on Gunbroker for a good price.

Loved my Beretta Model 84 but always thought it was better suited for the HD role versus CCW. In a .380 I like the older Colt Government .380 and Mustang, as well as the SIG P238. perfect size and design for the .380 cartridge.

I owned a Beretta 84F that I sold to a good friend of mine because it wasn't made for my hand. It was a nice pistol.
I like the Colt Government 380 stainless, that my father gifted to me, much more. It was his gun and he carried it alot in the ninenties when he had a carry permit. I shoot it from time to time and I love it.

Thank's Guyz! I have a few more idea's now (Colt Gov't 380,will check out! some nice looking 380"s P232,looks like some summer time fun!

I have a pair of 84's that I'll never give up. Just too much fun to shoot! Also have a pair of BDA's that I may soon have to sell due to unforeseen events.:( Anyway, bottom line is that the 380's are great fun!:)
Also have 9mm & .40 S&W so I think I'm pretty well covered

No one has mentioned the Bersa Thunder 380,,,

No one has mentioned the Bersa Thunder 380,,,
mine is a fine little pistol that didn't cost me an arm and a leg.

Right now buds has the Nickel plate version for $303.00,,,
The black and duo-tone versions are a bit less.

I know I have gone through the first 1,000 round stash of ammo,,,
Not one malfunction in all of those various makers rounds.

I also have a Beretta 85BB Cheetah.

For my purposes that is just about an ideal pistol,,,
This is the gun that lives in the holster in my briefcase.

Beretta 84 is the best 380 except.....

Lauderdale,

The BERETTA 84 is the best .380ACP for home defense or as a car gun because:
1. Most reliable .380ACP I know of.
2. Great BERETTA trigger. Double action/single action trigger is not a negative on this gun as it is with some others.
3. Great sights, especially if they are night sights.
4. Large magazine capacity, you probably will not have a spare mag on you when you go to check out that bump in the night.

That said, it has a single weakness, IT IS BIG, I MEAN AS BIG AS A SUB COMPACT 9m.m. or .40 S&W.
Compare it with a GLOCK 26 or SPRINGFIELD ARMORY XD9 Sub Compact and you will see what I mean.

If you are recoil intolerant and the grip is not too large for you, this is the ideal home defense gun.

I carry a SIG 232 aluminum frame model when I am off duty or a WALTHER PPK. Both are much easier to conceal without a jacket, vest or fanny pack than the BERETTA 84 and also, the grip is large.
That is good for control and reducing the felt recoil as it spreads out the recoil impulse, but it is STILL BIG.

As a house gun, it is the best .380ACP. The better safety on the BERETTA puts it ahead of its closest competitor, the CZ 83. You can safely drop the hammer on the later models of the BERETTA 84.
The CZ 83 requires you to lower the hammer manually and is slightly heavier as it is all steel and built like an anvil.
If you like that cocked and locked feature, great, but most police and military organizations consider it a safety hazard. I agree with them.

I just bought one from Cole Distributing. Excellent condition - just a few little scratches and nicks - for $300 plus tax. I've only fired a few rounds so far, but it's nice. I see a set of Lee .380 reloading dies in my near future.

aarond,Golden, Janos Thank you all! The bersa thunder sounds inntersting,1000 mixed no error's! Cheeta is pricey and I will be using first time reload's so I have allot to take into consideration. The Bersa, Sig, and Karr, might be a smarter choice for using my reloads? Ive considerd a bull barell on one if it can be found? Huh it'l be a learning exp. !!Don't know I should bring BB even into the smaller cal. hand gun conversation? So skip that I guess? will have to prob. have to purchase two.

I used to have one many years ago that I foolishly traded. That's the one gun that I wish I had back and never gotten rid of.

It's definitely one that I would like to buy again at some point.

OP,

Just subtract 50 from your model number and you have a fine .380 (9mm Corto) pistol that really is built like an anvil and can shoot.

The model 84 and 85 have a design flaw IMHO; at least mine do - the feed ramp is ( was....) a little soft for the russian hollowpoint from a few years ago.
I say "was" because the metal is NOT there anymore.
I fixed the ramp, but have quit shooting 200+ rounds per month also.
No problems since.
should have bought one of those 86's while they were still within a reasonable price range.
