Has anyone received the fall classic flyer? Did anyone else think that most of the revolvers and semi-autos pictured had their controls on the right hand side vice left as is typical. Just thought it was funny looking at all those left handed revolvers and semi autos. When I asked the sales person about them he told me they were correct and they just did not have them in stock at this time. Maybe it is just me, but I did not think that most of those models came in lefty.

Looks like I will be making a trip to Bass Pro in the coming weeks. I'm due anyway.

For some reason alot of flyers and brochures end up with a mirror image of the product. It must be something to do with the way they are published/printed. I noticed it one time on a boat brochure where it showed the boat with the controls on the wrong side. Since then I have noticed it alot with many different products.

I am guessing the software they use allows the image to be mirrored and they sometimes do this to fit the page layout they want. Just a guess.

I think their testing us? To see if we notice. Now you’re going to have those discussions’ on the forums, that S & W and others are making left handed versions. Maybe, they are? Just a guess?

<<It must be something to do with the way they are published/printed.>>

Yes, the image is reversed, flipped (horizontal). Could be a mistake? I doubt it, if it was press-ready. Cause it leaves the printer wide-open would have to print them all over again or give Brass Shop Pro a Texas size discount on the publishing costs. That’s if the printer took it upon themselves to make those changes. Printers know better, or they should know anyway.

Also if you notice that the lay-out has the guns going from left to right (barrel to the right). If I had to bet. The layout was designed by the printer or a third-party. Not Bass shop pro (Corporate), themselves.
Printers know, we (Americans) read from, left to right. Our eye direction (reading) will naturally go from left to right. This is not a hard and fast rule (for printing, design lay-outs).
Printers also know how to get the most out of the printed page, as far for lay-out design, for appeal. Take a look at those cross-bows, on how their printed.
Would it make a difference if some of the guns lead into each other, some guns printed right to left, some guns left to right?
Printers, designers, and art people, usually in their nature, have those lines (creative terms), “flowing”, pleasing to the viewers eye.

All these things listed above, just a guess?

<<did anyone notice that 5" S&W 686?>>

I see where you’re going with this?
Hold on! Let’s not cheat the hang-men! They (bass Shop Pro) say it’s a “special purchase”. I would NEVER second guess, Bass Shop Pro. Remember their experts. Look here:

<<When I asked the sales person about them he told me they were correct and they just did not have them in stock at this time.>>

A 5 inch, 686, (listed as 649.88), besides being left handed. It has to be! A “special purchase”, that is. Great for left-handed shooters.
I wonder how much a right-handed version goes for, from B.S.P.
The 686 (6 inch stainless, right-handed version) under the “special purchase” 686, is listed as reg. 649.99, selling for 599.88.

Some time ago, I asked if they sell “500 magnum ammo” (grapevine location…Talking to the gun dept.), that I have an S & W model 500, 500 magnum. Since they do sell the 8-3/8 models, one would figure they sell 500 ammo for the 500’s, they sell. The salesperson (from gun dept.) comes back on the phone, after checking, and tells me “the most I have is 2 boxes 450 Marlin”. I said: “I have the 500…500 magnum!” He replies: “The most I have is the 450 Marlin, two boxes left”. So being polite, I reply: “I did not know that the 500 magnums could shoot the 450 Marlin round?” He replies: “I don’t know anything about that gun! So, I asked, (to verify that “he was” a salesman in the gun dept). Sir….”do you sell and do you have in stock 500 Magnums?” Reply: (after checking) “Yes, the Smith & Wesson model 500. My reply: “Is that the 8-3/8 model”. Reply: “Yes. Correct.” Then I reply: “So if I come on down their right now to pick one up….” (I pause) …”what ammo does the S&W model 500 take? Replies: “let me look.” Comes back, and says: “500 magnum”. I continue, “So when I purchase a 500 magnum, are you going to sell me 500 magnum ammo or the 450 marlin ammo?” There was a pause, he replied: “we don’t carry ammo for the 500 magnum.” My reply: “O.K!?” and hung up the phone.

That does not suprise me. I went looking for a Glock 27 and asked the sales person. He tried to tell me the 19 was the same thing except it had a larger magazine capacity. The last time I looked one was 9mm and the other is a 40. So thinking that he just did not know much about handguns I asked to see what he had in 204. As he handing me a savage 22mag I tell him again I wanted something in 204 and he comes back with "whats the difference they are both 22's. I almost laughed until I noticed he was serious. Come to find out he was the team leader (assist manager for hunting dept). Glad they know more about guns then me or I would have thought they were different. Maybe the 22mag fires in a 204? It would be cheaper...lol

Troutman,
That response doesn't surprise me. I am a little they don't have any 500 though. They do have Corbon and Hornady for the .460. Cabelas has a better ammo selection and I know they have 3 or 4 different factory loads if you're still needing any local.

Did anyone else notice the Ruger MKIII hunter and the MKIII 22/45 are mis-labeled? I think Bass Pro better stick to fishin'

<<Did anyone else notice the Ruger MKIII hunter and the MKIII 22/45 are mis-labeled?>>

Yea! Was looking at that. Thinking of buying a 22. If you go by the price listed to the picture (not labeling). That MarkIII (not the 22/45) is listed for $399.88 DEAL……MSRP $567.
Where they have the MarkIII 22/45 listed for $459.88. MSRP is $487. NO DEAL.
I don’t know what’s going on their. Who knows…they be passing off the standard models (about $300 MSRP) for the models listed? They would not even know it.
Here’s another one looking at the S&W 500, they have it listed as an 8-3/4 inch barrel. Just guessing here. It must be another one of those “special purchase” items (dealer exclusive?). Cause they don’t make an 8-3/4? They do make an 8-3/8.
Yes, S&W “did” make a 686 5 inch. And I have seen them priced better. But the catalogue is a mess, it’s like…….I don’t know? Their guessing at this stuff. Maybe their trying to be “creative”. Drunks’ can do better. Probably a rush job? To get it out in time for the listed date of sale.
Name of the game here, you have to know your guns and pricing for them. I feel sorry for the ones that don’t. Something that Bas pro shops have to do, who ever is giving it to the printer like that, anyway.
Even if they let the printers handle the “press-ready” end of it. The printers get an “approval”, a signing off on it. That….. This is the way, it’s to be done. And that comes from corporate. Those corporate people have to stop telling fishing/hunting jokes all day long.

<< Cabelas has a better ammo selection and I know they have 3 or 4 different factory loads if you're still needing any local.>>

Thanks. Yes, I have noticed that. At the Ft.Worth location. They have HSM, Ultramax, Hornady, and Buffalo Bore. The HSM and Ultramax is the “new” ammo, not the refurb…I mean….the ah…re-manufactured. It’s not the re-manufactured ammo.
I do reloading. Not with a progressive press, though. I wind up buying a box or two for hunting.

<< I went looking for a Glock 27 and asked the sales person. He tried to tell me the 19 was the same thing except it had a larger magazine capacity. The last time I looked one was 9mm and the other is a 40.>>

And you see, that’s a popular handgun. Or so you see and hear it talked about.
I don’t have a glock. I shot a glock.
In retail, one should know it.

<< So thinking that he just did not know much about handguns I asked to see what he had in 204. As he handing me a savage 22mag I tell him again I wanted something in 204 and he comes back with "whats the difference they are both 22's.>>

You see, his fate is sealed, as for credibility. Whether or not, he knew about the differences.
It sounds like it’s more of an insult, though. For me. I had that done to me as well.
Me…..I’m assertive guy. I know what I want. Don’t give me something I don’t want. Otherwise, I’m going to walk away! And I have to. If I know a person like that, is insulting me. I’ll be saying things I don’t mean, otherwise, I’ll have a relapse of an old disorder I had. Going from a mild to a sever case of Tourettes’ disorder…I’ll be saying obscene words, in-appropriate and derogatory hand gestures and comments. So… I walk away! He loses out, not me. I’m not going to get aggravated!

They are from the antimatter universe. Bass Pro also is too expensive.
