Yep, you guessed it, I shot this buck out of my bathroom window. It was about 5:00 pm and I just happened to look out the window as I was walking out of the bathroom. He was just standing in the backyard. I almost sh$# myself (good thing I was in the bathroom). Some will say that I am a horrible sportsman, I just consider myself an opportunist. A single shot in the neck with my .243 at ten yards and he dropped where he stood. He green scored 133 and 4/8. Not bad for a North Mississippi whitetail.

Very carefully.:neener: No, honestly, he just stood there looking at me while I opened it. I was scared he was gonna bolt the whole time.

Congratulations!

I took my first (only) buck from my back deck while getting ready for school back in my senior year...I probably should have warned Mom first but I didnt want to spook the deer...she had to change her knickers.....and then I went to school late 'cause I had to dress the deer out...:)

Those were the days

feeder and a Moultrie game cam..

Maybe you ought to set up a digital game cam and a feeder and run it year round in the back yard and find out what really is around. That could have been the baby buck. For all you know, Bigfoot may be out there! I'd hate to make a habit of shooting deer out of the house, but it's nice for one go-round.

Congrats on a nice deer. I hope you read the post about boiling skulls.

Years ago there was a story, about a couple of Bachelor Brothers who owned a Farm near Zimmerman MN. Story has it they planted a row of rutabagas in the garden just cause the deer liked em. Any way Oscar shot a deer in the rutabagas (ooh I'll bet that hurt) right through the kitchen window. With out even reading your post I thought of Oscar.
At least you opened the window.
Very nice Deer BTW

How loud was that shooting from inside your house? Did you use any kind of ear protection? :)

Since I don't hunt....I gotta' ask: Do hunters wear any kind of ear protection when hunting? At least foam plugs?

Spot77

I've been known to shoot a coyote out the back door with a Remington 06 with the door cracked just enough to stick the muzzle outside. It's loud, but not as bad as one might think. It would be much worse with the muzzle inside.
As for hunting, I do not wear ear protection when I hunt as I use my ears so much in locating the game. And to be honest, when that big 8 pointer walks out, I barely even hear the shot. :D

I wear no ear protection while hunting deer either....wouldn't be able to hear them coming. Like joebogey said....you barely hear the shot you're so pumped:p
ooops...almost forgot....nice buck!!! I'da done it too.

No hearing protection. The muzzle was outside so I didn't even notice the sound. Like other posters have said. I was pumped.

Well at least when the coffee cleans you out you don't have to find a tree to lean against. :neener:

Nice deer for sure. My uncle does the same thing out his bedroom window every year in Montana.

nice rack on that guy! your story reminds me of grandpa sitting on his back porch shooting quail from his rocking chair, and having his old hound dog fetch them for him.

so, did you have the rifle in your bathroom for just such an occasion?

I got my first buck this year. I had my muffs on top of my noggin, and when I saw the buck 20 yards behind me I just slowly dropped 'em down and *bang*. Worke out just fine. I already have nasty tinnitus, and I don't need it to be any worse.

Nope the rifle was in my bedroom. I was worried that he would be gone when I got back, but there he stood. He was definately trailing a doe.
